When I was working in our rich area of town we had a call at 2:45am for a 43y/o female with chest pain. All she had was a toothache and she almost refused transport because we wouldn't let her take her dog. I had to bite my tongue on that entire call.

We're a bit more strict. The medic evaluates by talking to the pt and deciding but if a monitor or any kind of BLS thing is done the pt has to remain ALS status.

I had a student in my EMT class who was a full medic in the army. I couldn't believe that our state didn't accept military training. But he had to go through it all over again. I've done 2 deliveries but they came out of me. I haven't met one medic that likes a delivery call. In fact every time we've picked up a preggers lady they tell me to step on it to the ER. Mostly cause thier messy and everyone is afraid of something going wrong and having mom and a peds as a pt...

Whether you believe in prayer or not though, if it's going to make the pt and family feel better does it really hurt to take 30 seconds to say Amen with them?

What can I say? Princess covered it all! We're packing too, I always start a month in advance, then procrastinate for 28 days and do all my packing the 2 days left.
