Im Curious on what to do when you respond to a call for a hit and run. What do you for your pt?

If the pt is unconscious and not breathing properly (or not breathing at all) and is bleeding profusely with deformities to the body what do you do first in the assessment .

Splint the leg...

BSI, scene safety, ABCs.

Check a pulse. If they have none they're a DOS, nothing we can do for them, clear and go eat lunch.

scene safety, BSI, ABCs, take the patient to see a doctor as soon as you can?

maybe even put a few bandaids on to control the bleeding and try to get him breathing again?

Actually, I think my earlier statement was incorrect. Blunt Trauma resulting in the patient not breathing (and very likely in traumatic arrest) would probably get a white sheet over him and a criminal investigation for vehicular homicide.

call the ambulance.:cool::)

Your first step should be to call someone who knows what to do.
