When I was working in our rich area of town we had a call at 2:45am for a 43y/o female with chest pain. All she had was a toothache and she almost refused transport because we wouldn't let her take her dog. I had to bite my tongue on that entire call.

We're a bit more strict. The medic evaluates by talking to the pt and deciding but if a monitor or any kind of BLS thing is done the pt has to remain ALS status.

I had a student in my EMT class who was a full medic in the army. I couldn't believe that our state didn't accept military training. But he had to go through it all over again.
