I know your out there somewhere Frankie Castle, back me up on this.

Steve is my hero!! B)

I love him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (well you know, not in that way, but he is my friend..........)

Hmmm.....

Let me try this again, since my original post was deemed an attack and too offensive for public viewing. I have never had a post removed by a moderator before so I will try again.

First, if anyone felt attacked, I apologize. My intent was to stress that in this business, we must never stop learning. You have never seen it or done it all and if someone says they have, they are lying.

Now, as I was saying. Steve kicks butt! He is an intelligent guy that is very nice and willing to share his knowledge with anyone that wants to learn. He has come up with an excellent idea and I applaud him for it. I for one, as well as others, appreciate the attempt. No one knows it all, but it is refreshing when one does have an apptitude for knowledge and is willing to share it.

As I stated in my first post, EMS is a cut throat world. We always seem to stab each other in the back. If we are ever to progress and gain the respect we deserve as a profession, we need to work together and promote education.

I have read and reread this post - I do not see any attacks, just stating my opinion which is what an open forum and America is all about. Lets give it a go and see if this one stays put.

Here's the situation, and I hope some of the others can post how they feel and such.

Like some before me said, EMS is a cut-throat industry and profession. On other online forums you'll see petty insults thrown left and right, and it's mostly accepted because we're all supposed to be adults and supposed to be able to take it. I don’t care who you are, how confident you are in yourself, or how tough you believe someone else should be, that kind of behavior won’t be accepted here.

We are professionals, and if you spend any time with the community we serve, you'll get chills down your spine seeing how much they look up to us. I think we forget that sometimes, and it's amazing the position we're in, and the absolutely professionalism we usually show on scene. I think that while things can and should be much more relaxed here, we still need to be professionals.

Like I said before, there are tons of EMS forums out there, and personally I'd hope that you have the time to contribute to all of them. If EMTLife doesn't work for you, try some of the others. I know our moderation is a bit more proactive than others, and that may irritate some of you, but I sincerely believe it's in the best interest of the community

Everything you post on EMTLife is available for the public to see, not just us or those working in EMS. That's why I'd hope you keep your personal communications to Private Messages or e-mail. If you have a problem with someone on the board, PM or email them, that's what it's for.
j
At the end of the day I hope we, as EMS professionals, are a community that has a profound level respect for our colleagues and the people we serve. We're a relatively new profession and have a lot to prove to both the general public and ourselves.

I hope everyone has an enjoyable Fourth of July, and I'm always open for emails and PMs.

Professional is a title to be earned and certain people have not done anything in the eyes of many of respectable people (AK, (DRFEELGOOD), EMTBEE, FRANKIE, myself) to earn the title of professional. You are an amateur until such time as you prove that you deserve to be called a professional- just because you're in a field doesn't make you a professional.

I agree with your comments about being a professional, but I disagree with who you think are the judges of that.

In this forum, everyone (including you) starts out as an "amateur" and must earn the respect of the other membes of this forum. In the EMS field, you must earn the respect of your co-workers and not some self-appointed judges.

I couldn't have said it better. I usually stay out of these "tiffs" on the boards, I have enough drama in my own life. But since our opinions have been requested I'd just like to say a few things...None of us are here to pass judgement, I personally feel that no one person or group of people has the right to pass judgement on anybody. I along with most of the people on this board come here to relax, get advice, vent, etc... There are a lot of great people here who are fun to hang out with that are like-minded and can understand my experiences in the medical field. I am only a member of this forum because my experiences at others were not as friendly and I specifically enjoy the company of this group of people. I am elated to see more people join the group (the more the merrier) but I would hope that they would respect our rules and us as individuals while we are getting to know each other. And understand just that, as we are all getting to know each other have patience and understand that we are all adults who have our own opinions and ways about us.

On a side note:
Forums make it hard to understand HOW we're saying what we are. There's no inflection in font. So as my paragraph above is grammatically incorrect, it gets my point across.
And some of us post when we're drunk so don't hold it against us. :D

You both have made very good points. We all are here to support one another and provide advise about anything and everything. We don't need to judge one another for what our comments maybe but we don't need to go after one person or group of people. We all earn the respect from each other as we get to know each other better and learn where each one of us is comming from. I know I don't always get all the grammer correct but who does?? We all have our momment drunk or not. So lets have fun and stick together and be one happy family. B)

Can you imagine the world, or this forum, if everyone had come from the same mold and was perfect? Would it not be just a bit boring? We all have are little quirks, but that is what makes life more interesting.

Can we put this all behind us and begin again?

Hi, my name is Dan and I am an I-tech from Vermont.

Ohhhh Yes Dr. Feelgood im here.

WE ALL LOVE STEVE.

if you ask nicely i might show u some funny pics of him too.. hahah gotta lovew them drunkin nights. hahahahahahahah

I'll gladly admit it that I'm not perfect, but I do hold myself to a fairly high standard (my former medical director used to say, not so jokingly, that I was far harsher on myself over bad calls than he could ever be and this is coming from a doc of whom everyone has the general opinion of his being a sadist) and tend to value my skills and knowledge to a very great degree. But at the same time I do hold everyone to the same standard I hold myself, that is to say that if I screw up, I expect to be corrected, but I am also the first one to call someone on misbehavior, malfeasance or gross incompetence.

Any potential problem would exist only if I were not holding myself to the same standard- i.e. being a self-righteous hypocrite- instead of simply insisting (as I have been) that everyone else pull themselves up to a higher level or find a different line of work where your lack of basic cognitive function (and you have to be pretty stupid before I really think it effects your performance at a BLS level) or lack of maturity kills or injures someone- your patient, your partner, or yourself.

And by the way, I differentiate between a lack of maturity and being a laid back individual. There are several people on here (TTLWHKR, MedicStudentJon, etc) who I would think are bordering on the surfer dude mentality- very easy going, but there is only the one person that I feel is so immature as to have it hinder career progression. :)

I don't hold your opinion of me too highly since you seem to have positioned yourself and others on a pedestal to judge everyone as if you were God. You seem to hold yourself as a highly respectable individual, with crap that smells like a bed of roses. However, after reading many of your sarcastic and unprofessional posts, you're no better than any other person on here. I have more respect for people who can get over a hissy fit with out telling someone to hang themselves. But that's okay, I'm not here for you to like me. On my 1-10 scale of things that matter to me, you don't even reach one, so you can bring as many of your minions as you want to for mudslinging. However, just because you don't favor one person who put a chip on your shoulder in the past, you don't need to bring the whole forum down to your level. Weather you have a valid point or not. I'm neutral, I don't care who did what, fight somewhere else. I was quite happy with out the BS that you find in all the other forums. I'm here for yours truly, and to keep in touch with new friends. Not here to sit in a pew for you to pass judgement over and wait to be accepted into the Medic45 fan club.

Cry a river - build a bridge and get over it.

<edit> To add graphics :P Like my little guy? Google.. Ya gotta love Google!

As for the "fan club", it wasn't my idea. Since I'm not a moderator I don't have control over the actions of my friends from EMTCity. It's nice to know that I have people who will defend me against unfounded allegations, just as 007Medic has those who will stand up and defend her against someone stating his opinion of her. Pick your side and as the saying goes "Sic vis pacum, para bellum."

About my putting myself on a pedestal so that I can judge everyone, no, I don't. I just judge everyone else just like I am judged. You're saying I'm a hypocrite because I hold people to a standard and I judge them based upon that, but you're judging me based upon a standard which you have yet to spell out. I'm not perfect and I'm the first one to admit that. But if you would take the time to get to know me and not immediately assume that I am some form of egomaniac, then you might see that I am here simply because

As for my sarcastic and "immature" posts, like I said, there's a difference between being a smartass and being immature. At least I can defend my stance on things with something beyond "you're being an a--hole hypocrite!" like a lot of people (not anyone in particular or even anyone on this site, just people in general). You yourself WHKR have a tendency to be a rather big goof-off (hence why I have the opinion of you that I do, even despite what you just said about me, I can still respect a person who knows how to be more than just two dimensional and can manage to balance some degree of maturity with a fairly decent sense of humor), but I don't hear anyone holding that against you because at times you also can be direly serious when posting. Just pointing how I see things in regards to this.

Thanks for at least being honest in regards to your opinion of me. The feeling's mutual- I find you amusing, but your distaste for me doesn't harm my opinion of myself. :) Have a great day.

Can't we all just get along?
