No one can tell you it varies from.place to place.. but your response is not likely to get you help in the future

Duplicate threads merged, and I'd suggest that everyone remember our First Rule of "Be Polite".

That depends on your company. The only thing that wasn't given to me by my company is socks and underwear.

There's a lot of different companies out there, so we can't give you a definite answer <_<

That being said, there are a few different options depending on the company:
-Complete uniform purchase by the department, including boots, jacket, shirt, pants, etc
-Partial uniform purchase by the department (for example, shirt and hat, you provide the rest)
-Complete uniform purchase by you (you pay for everything)
-Company contribution to your purchase (they give you a certain amount of money for your uniform or parts they don't provide, and you pay for the rest)

Again, there are too many companies to really give you a complete answer. I hope this helps though!

I got two shirts and a pair of pants and there was supposed to be a hat and a water bottle but by the time they got around to me they were out of hats and water bottles :( as far as I know my pants are still sitting at headquarters cuz I'm too lazy to pick them up and I already had some.

I'm new on my squad (in NJ) so I only have a pager at the moment, but from my understanding, the only thing they've given to members are:

- Pager (duh)
- Polo Shirt
- ID Card
- Windbreaker with our names on the front

Everything else we'd need is on our own budget or provided in the ambulance.

They have trouble with the budget so there are only about 10 radios for the entire squad. So they give them to the people that make the most calls.

Our squad is very laid back. They don't require BDUs and we don't take shifts waiting for calls. What we do is when our pagers go off, drive quickly (and safely) to the building. IF not enough people show up, then it goes mutual aid to a neighboring town. Everyone on the squad has blue warning lights most bought our own, but some got those rotating beacon ones paid for by the squad. I don't know if anyone's squad is like that.

It's just that we get on average one call every other day so it would be a boring shift. Most of our cops are trained first responders anyway, so they will go on scene and take care of getting details, start them on oxygen, etc.

You must have high taxes in your town for that kind of funding. Or is it a privatized company?

O.O

on my very first EMT job, the only thing I was issued was an agency patch. I was told I needed to provide my own white shirt, black pants, and boots. we later got t-shirts from the company. Suffice it to say, I left after less than 3 months.

Most places I am aware of will issue new employees 1 or 2 long sleeve or short sleeve uniform shirts, as well as 1 or 2 pairs of pants. a jacket may or may not be issued, depending on if you are FT or not.

Items that are "typically" not issued, but I wish were:
radio holsters
duty belts
boots
trauma sheers
helmets
turnout coats
work gloves
job shirts
winter hats
baseball hats
turtle necks
socks
flashlight
traffic vest

but alas, we are not the police or fire department, so we get the bare minimum, and have to pay for all the rest out of our own pocket

All uniforms stay at station because we get weekly laundry service. But yes I have a very large closet :)
