I have been taking refresher courses and CE's. My fear is not that I don't know the material. Just that practical use of it may cause me to stumble a little. As you know learning it in the classroom is one thing but using it in the field are two different things. That said I have been a...
I'm getting ready to start a new volunteer position with a new EMS agency in Houston. This will be my first time I'm working in a true EMS role in a about 3 and half years. I have worked on a basic first aid team in the mean time and finished my bachelor's. I fear that I 'm a little rusty on...
The driving record can be an issue, but it depends on the company and what the reason behind the blemishes are. As far as a job, I would recommend IFT's or Tech. As an ER Tech you can keep your skills up, and make connections with the local EMS departments.
Hello all,

I agree, have a white cloud is a major bummer, where ever I've worked I seem to never get anything major let alone exciting. It seems that I have to work extra hard sometimes to keep up my skills and feel confident that I will be as successful in the real situations.
my First job at a Trauma hospital I was a newbie to the field and wasn't experienced enough or confident. It was kinda of embarrassing that I had been 'asked to leave' from a job I really liked.

My NREMT was re-registered last week, really pleased about that, but it was only for two years, thought that was a little strange, expected it to be longer. Is two years the normal now?

I've been having chest pains almost all day today. It started this morning about 4 just as a feeling of ingestion and progressively moved to the chest, feeling of pressure and a dull pain about noon. At which time it became almost completely as isolated to the chest and shoulder area. My...
I took the a two month EMT course about a year ago. I two must say it was one of the best experiences of my life.
MMiz is right the best way to decided whether or not it is something you want to do you need to ride along with someone. I did this about 3 months prior to my class...
I hate them, When i did use them, I was often told by pts. they were restrictive and uncomfortable. I think the general 3 straps (chest, abdomen and legs) is good enough.
