I would love to hear Miami-Dade Fire Rescue's response.

I just can't imagine that any system would allow the providers to terminate care without providing additional resources or alternative care.

If the case is as reported, it seems like a clear case of patient abandonment.

Wait! WTF!?

If the story is accurate, yeah that's bad, like... really really fkn bad, lose your job and possibly your cert for starters bad...

How accurate is the story? That's the other question. Wouldn't be the first time details got glossed over, or allegations made that don't fit the facts, but these are some pretty damn serious allegations to do so with...

I suppose the big question will come down to , did the Pt sign an AMA and then call back later? If so, then ok... if not... pretty hard to justify leaving a Pt with no transfer of care without that signature, no matter how you slice it

yeah...I'm sure it happened exactly the way the evening news took the story from the family...

My concern is it's been almost 45 days since the story was published, and there's been no follow up from the agency in the press saying no, this didn't happen. Staying silent this long doesn't assuage public opinion.

But it does make it disappear… Next story. Athletes who eat cheeseburgers. Click this link. “Poof”.

While this is all under investigation....and I do not condone what transpired (as best we know at this time) ...this story will surely fade away, especially since the County will most likely just settle out of court with all the usual NDAs in place.

Again, they should not have left her.....but if she "lost consciousness moments after they left" as reported by family, why did they not call 911 again and again, repeatedly? Alternatively, if she was still conscious, and with all those family members present and witnessing this, is no one capable of driving? Team lift into the car and get to ER?

It seems she had gastric bypass just 6 months earlier, and has been making frequent trips to ER due to ABD pain. Just stating a fact here.

Gosh Darn it! There you go presenting facts.

Way to ruin a good thrashing everyone based on the media thread!

😁
