Ok, quick questionOriginally posted by kyleybug@Jan 21 2005, 02:10 PM
I haven't been here much in the last week. It was a week ago today that our service had one of our trucks taken out by a woman that pulled out in front of it. I know not surprising it happens all the time. The bad thing was that the truck had just went to pick up another ALS crew that had broken down so the truck had 2 ALS crews in it when it wrecked. 2 in the front and 2 in the back. All four were hurt, not seriously but bad enough that we lost all of them for the rest of the shift(happened at 12pm) and 3 of them for the next shift they were scheduled for. Needless to say I have been @ the station. I went in on Friday, got there about 12:30pm and left the following day @ 9:30pm, went back in @8am worked a 28 and then was off for one day (had a vol fire meeting) and was back the next day at 7am and worked until 10pm then I was off one day and was back for another 14.....I am POOPED! I wouldn't have done it different though, I was glad I could be there when I was needed. Our guys are still recovering, one had a dislocated shoulder, it went out then back in. Another hurt his knee, on lift restriction now. One other hurt his knees, back and neck, he already had previous neck injusry so it was pretty hard on him, he still isn't back the other 3 are and one is fine now. The other two are still hurting but trying to suck it up and deal with it. I can't explain the feeling I had when I got the call that OUR guys were hurt, I drove like my car had wings getting there, I was so afraid they weren't okay. It left the whole Co. without a unit because we only have 3 on at once and the 3rd unit was working our guys! Lets hope next week is better!

I asked the same thing and the two in front were but, the two in back were not one was in the captians chair and one on the bench. They were hurt worse in the back ofcourse, the driver was the one with the prior neck injury so it didn't help in that aspect but it did keep him from being thrown into the windshield. The passanger said it was the only thing that kept him from looking like he was giving "service" to the driver......only HE would make that statement  ! The passenger was the only one that walked away pretty much okay, sore but okay, still mentally warped but okay other wise!Originally posted by MedicStudentJon@Jan 21 2005, 08:16 PM

I hope everyone gets back out there soon. This is an example of a day I never want to experience. Picking up comrades in need is something I never want to do.

So I could stand up and go examine the remains of my whacker light that were crushed into the frozen ground.
