I recently found that my local EMS service posts dispatch information to PulsePoint.

In addition to providing a status screen with local EMS/fire units, it also notifies trained users nearby if CPR is needed. Really slick implementation.

Does your organization use PulsePoint? Have you ever responded to an activation as a bystander to provide CPR?

Literally until now, I had no idea my local EMS/Fire agencies were publishing to pulsepoint either... Very interesting... now I'll have a better idea what might be coming toward my ED when I'm working as Charge (or whenever I decide to look that stuff up).

I've gotten Pulse Point CPR needed notifications twice now. In both cases I was actually on duty, and interestingly both came in before the actual dispatch. (I remember looking at my phone going "what is this alert?" Then after the call realized it was Pulse Point...)

Our EMS Agency uses it here. Sometimes I like to check it when we get a call to see who our ambulance will be lol. And I've noticed a certain percentage of calls simply never populate, seems like anything generated by PD and sent over doesn't get sent to the app)

My old county uses it (PulsePoint Respond), along with their AED registry PulsePoint AED. When I was working with the DOH we partnered with the county to help market the program, and my Medical Reserve Corps unit was big on adding locations to the registry as they were out and about.

I use it because I'm nosey, and I want to know where Engine12/Ladder12 is going when I hear sirens (their station is a few blocks away from my house and I'm two blocks from a major road). I'm also nosey about what happens in the rest of the county, especially if they have a major incident.

I live in an area that dumps everything to it. We've had 2 CPR notifications, but they were both from a skilled nursing facility behind locked gates.

I also work in a county that has it, and we found out that the sponsoring agency can filter out what information is fed to PulsePoint. Only the "fun" calls that fire runs seem to be getting posted. Curious.

Funny, ours does the opposite. Fire is never listed, just whichever ambulance unit is sent (even if it's a rescue or building fire call), and since we only go to maybe 50% of their calls, makes it hard to be a nosey Ricky rescue fire buff 🤣

Slowly our regional dispatch is implementing it, along with the AED registry. The latter is what I’m interested in.

Cam anyone with involvement or knowledge of implementation PM me?

Mainly the costs of implementation, I've already verified that our county dispatch has a compatible CAD system.

Used in Los Angeles and Las Vegas. Got a CPR alert in Vegas visiting, casino medics already on it. Got an alert at my 2nd job in LA down the street, found a guy overdosed in the McDonalds bathroom. Kept his airway open and provided rescue breaths for about 30 seconds until FD showed up. Interestingly enough, PulsePoint mailed me a care package after I provided feedback from the overdose which included a shirt, jacket, usb drive, deck of cards and a $100 gift card. Awesome organization.

...for giving rescue breaths to a guy in an LA McDonalds bathroom? Should have put a statue up of you at UCLA med center....holy cow...talk about risking life....no criticism here...that's the equivalent of running into a burning, collapsing building for someone....

Dang, I've been to two PulsePoint "dispatches" and never got any swag.

Then again I was on duty and gonna be dispatched officially anyway, and the fact that both were pronounced in the field probably didn't help...

You can reach out to them directly, or Google “PulsePoint contract .pdf” to see some examples.

San Diego pays $28,000 a year for the service whereas Williamson City EMS in Texas pays $8,000.

Use PulsePoint all the time when I’m sitting in station wondering where the f everyone is at, and I’m too lazy to walk out and check the mdc

As stated I’ve also gotten alerts way before officially being toned out, especially veg fires, dispatch takes 6+ minutes at times to full dispatch it mean time everyone knows they’re going when the notifications pop up
