Meade County EMS worker discovers daughter is victim of deadly accident

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - It's a nightmare every emergency service worker hopes never comes true - being called out to a tragedy only to find out it involves one of your own family members. That's exactly what happened in Meade County early Thursday. The victim was a high school senior, and her mother is the EMS worker who was the first responder at the scene of the crash. WAVE 3's Connie Leonard has the story.

How tragic! This sort of thiing is just one of the reasons I work in a different community than where I live. My heart goes out to the friends and family of this girl.

Stuff like this makes me glad I don't have kids. I really couldn't imagine the hell she's going through.

This is definitely a nightmare that I think every emergency worker fears coming true. This family will def be in my prayers this holiday season.

Horrible tragedy! My thoughts and prayers are going out to the family.

My thoughts and prayers to the family and friends......... Some days this job is so dam hard.....-_-

Being from Ky this hits close to home.I pray the Lord will help her through this.

Wow I don't even want to imagine how that mother is feeling right now...My prayers are with the family.

Everyone in EMS' biggest fear... I'm really sorry to hear that.

Tragic story. We had a similar case a few years back when a firefighter's daughter was inside a mangled car. Significant damage to the car with 4 trapped inside (we found out later once we got to them that they were all minor injuries - go Honda & seatbelts) but I have never seen someone cut apart a car so fast with the jaws before.

If anything, the only "good" thing is being there. I think I would want to be the first on scene rather than across town on a chest pain and have to be told about it later. As much as it would rip my heart out to be there, at least I would be there.

Suh a tragic loss at such a young age, My thoughts and prayers are with the family,

Kudos to the surrounding services for staffing the station during that time of stress, In a small tight knit community the loss of a coworkers child effects everyone.

When reading all the posts of what are the worst call possible? What is the worst thing you have ever seen or handle, most ghoulish, one should think of this event.

I have unfortunately have to responded to immediate family members, and close friends> Something I would never wish upon anyone. A true event I would never want to do to again.

So when asked "what is the worst type of call"... One can reflect upon this event.

I too sympathize with the EMS worker, and she will be in my thoughts and prayers.
