And what's your certification?

Around $500 (Education, uniform, gear for class, etc). I'm an EMT-B. You gotta figure its wayyyy easier to teach EMT than it is paramedic or anything else. I'd say $500 is reasonable.

Somewhere around $600 for EMT. Around $5000 for paramedic. I don’t even know where to begin on CE hours and additional textbooks and classes/certifications.

12 grand for the first crack at paramedic school, although I don’t recall if that figure includes or excludes the truck load of booze and bad decisions that made it the first attempt and not the only attempt. That was half of the total cost of a university based program.

8 grand for the second and final attempt at a private training institution.

$600.00 for the Basic class. Passed, got hired and a grant to the agency paid for AEMT. Have got more than the original investment back.

BSN. Around $65K

EMT class was 670 and on a scholarship from my town's PD. I think all told my paramedic program was around 8k. I got a grant for about half of that and work paid for the rest.

My PoliSci BA from a small liberal arts college on the other hand...

EMT was about a grand, medic was about 5k, BS in bio was like 21K, BSN was about 32K. After grants and scholarships I think I paid about 10K out of pocket or on federal loans for all of it.

Like a grand for my basic, my fire certs were all free through work/the state, and what will eventually be a casual $220,000 for my medical degree, not including living expenses.

My girlfriend's BSN is around $55,000 I think.

18k for paramedic school took it twice so that's why it cost so much. EMT was at local community college so only a couple hundred there. My bachelors degree don't even know that amount anymore but it wasn't cheap.

EMT tuition: $0 (Cost is $300ish, waived by college as part of local scholarship program)

EMT books: $0 (Cost unknown, received Boundtree Legacy Scholarship.)

Paramedic Tuition: $0 (Cost $5000ish. Received paid sponsorship, including wages, books, etc from employer.)

Associates of Applied Science in EMS: $0 (Got a professional equivalency waiver for paramedic classes, employer paid for remaing gen ed classes.)

BAS: TBD, expect my employer to pay for this.

This thread had me curious to pull some numbers for how much my Bachelors cost me in 2002......

Tuition was 11,4000 per semester (so 22,800 per year)
Fees were around 11,000 per year
on campus housing was 2,660 per semester, with the meal plan being 1550 per semester.

However, this doesn't come close to what current students pay:
Tuition: $45,150 per year
housing and meals: 15,558 per year.
Fees: $1,605

Plus the college estimates the following additional costs:
Books $1,469
Transportation $668

EMT at local community college in 2009: around $100

Masters Degree in Medical Science (practicing PA) will literally be paying for it until I retire.

EMT: $800 for everything (tuition, books, software, uniform, gear, etc.)

Paramedic: $7,200 for everything

1st Associate’s: $5,000 for everything

2nd Associate’s: $2,000 for everything

Bachelor’s: $40,000 for everything

I paid cash for all of those as I went along.

Master of Science in Nursing: $80,000 for everything (taking some loans for this one; currently enrolled)

So far, I've spent about $100-$200. I'm trying to get my basic but life has been getting in the way of school.

~ $400 for EMT basic, ~$3500 for paramedic. ~$7k for ASN, ~$20k for BSN, and ~$100k for my masters. Actually my masters cost much more than that if you include the fact that I have to give up 2.5 years of work to do the program.

Basic was free, I/85 was around a thousand at Medicwest, Paramedic was around $2700, AAS and 1st bachelor's came to around 20k, second bachelor's and master's will be free thanks to GI Bill.

Easy 30k for bachelors In emergency management. Included 7k for medic school. 3500 for fire school.
