Good schools require 2.0 GPA / bad ones don't ?

So I am going to be taking EMT-B in a year or two at a local Hospital. I've noticed that they don't require anything other than $970 and your basic info on a very simple application to be accepted. So basically anyone with the cash gets in.

Do you think that makes them only interested in taking peoples money?, and the training might suck? It is at a good, large Hospital though.......

There is no real education prerequisite for EMT-B aside from a high school diploma or GED. The curriculum is written at an 8th grade level and there is no math...

Not to say that a monkey can pass the course... But...

And most programs are out to make money. I took mine through a community college and paid 24$ a unit. The class cost me around $200 and it was everything I needed to become certified. Are there any cheaper programs in the are?

I have not heard of any EMT classes requiring any kind of GPA. Some EMT classes are starting to require a Prerequisite reading class.

$120 including books in 2004 at Coastline Regional Occupational Training Program (ROP) in So. Cal. It's the high school occupation program that is open to adults if it doesn't fill up. $40 registration fee. It would have been cheaper, but I bought the workbook which was a huge mistake (didn't use it).

I took my EMT basic and it only cost $175 my paramedic class is $350. of course this is in North Carolina.
