I'm just trying to get to 1,000 so it looks symmetrical. Alas, the OCD of an EMS provider.

= talk too much.
In all seriousness, I think it's well known and worth re-mentioning posters such as yourself, the good doc, Remi, TJ, Robb (didn't forget you this time, bud), and even some of my Cali breathern are pretty solidified in their knowledge base regardless of their posts in spite of the like to pos ratio.

There are tons of other people who I don't even see on here anymore at all who's posts I used to read and learn(ed) from, or who still pop in on occasion and drop some heavy knowledge, @Brandon O and @Nova1300 come to mind off the top of my head.

So to recap, hang around like enough and you'll be able to separate the real deal posters from the bullshstëin.

This is my waiver to any new or would be poster (lurkers) who may have taken much of the "joshing" on this thread literally.

My identity is a fairly open secret and can be discovered in about .3 seconds by anybody who cares. For that matter my credentials are public record and can usually be verified online. Most people prefer some prima facie anonymity just so there aren't quite so many potential employers Googling and asking questions like "Who's VentMonkey?"

With all of that said I see some value in requiring users to list their credentials/highest level of training, even if it's not verified and even if their name remains anonymous. While the web is an egalitarian place the author's background is relevant to the interpretation of their input, much as my interpretation of someone's medical opinion is different if they're a student, nurse, RT, intern, attending, consulting specialist, or student.

Everyone should be able to talk, but everyone should also know where they're coming from.

It's a shame that many of the folks that were extremely knowledgeable have moved on, and sadly don't post here any longer. However, there are amazing people here that frequently cause me to search for articles, read and rethink my position. Both medicly and personally. You know who you are.

And if you've been around ems forums for a while, you probably remember the late, great DustDevil. One of my favorite online posters.

Dust (Rob)...I still have him on my FB. He died before they did the legacy thing but at least his Mom/Sister keep the page up. We worked together overseas, communicated damn near daily and I flew him to FL to hang out once for a few days. Was going to take him to the EMS event in Ohio for one last hooray, but he decided last minute not to go...he did not want people pushing him in the wheelchair or me or others helping him wipe his own arse.

I emailed with him a few times. I really liked his swag. A shame.
