800 numbers on Ambulances......

It just seems desperate for dialysis money.....

There is no phone number on the rigs for the company I work for.....in California.

They might not enforce it, not sure but it's on the checklist last time i looked. edit:I know 100% it is required in City of LA.

800 numbers

I spend quite a bit of time in Milwaukee and the private services are big up in this area. You don't call 911 you call the ambulance you want in the phone book. One company in my mind is just ridiculous Bell Ambulance...its says on the truck and on their literature "If it doesn't say Bell on the side, you've been takin for a ride"

I guess I have always been in rural EMS and the last 2o years I have come accustom to the it being about community no the almighty dollar. Don't think I could work for a service if my number was not 911 ^_^

Ditto on no number. Is the checklist online?

My company is located in the city of Los Angeles and we have no numbers on our rigs.....OUTLAWS!!!

Hopefully they spelt taken right.

My service used to have their number on the side. They have had the number removed since people use it to complain about drivers.

Would the company not want to know about bad drivers?

That's hilarious

Apparently the complaints were all petty and unfounded.

I remember one complaint that a driver used the airhorn because the driver was refusing to yield while they were running code.

It doesn't matter much. With everyone having Google at their finger tips its fairly easy to get the number regardless of it being printed on the side.

You need the airhorn in Los Angeles.....

Yeah my mistake....it says "taken"

My agency puts their web address.

Yes, Police cars say "Police", not "Police Car" or "Patrol Car". Ambulances say "Ambulance" as opposed to, say, "EMS".

I should get a magnetic sign and put "Horizontal Taxi" on it when I get on shift >_>

Ours say Ambulance only if it's a BLS unit. ALS has Paramedic Unit on the side, and Paramedic on the front.

I will never, EVER, work in an ambulance that has their phone number plastered on the side of the truck. Did that for 3 months, that's enough of that. now it's 911 only services or hospital based services that don't need to bed for outside business.

Usually you find them on private companies, transport companies, or companies that are for profit and trying to do anything they can do to drum up business. and a way for people to complain about your driving, more often than not for frivolous or petty reasons.

but if i chose to work for a private/IFT company, or had my own, I would probably want my name, website, phone number, and anything other way I could be contacted by a new client put all over my ambulances. But I still don't want to.

If only we could all be in a position to make such a choice. Maybe in a couple years I can migrate to a truck that says only 911 on it. For now though, my circumstances mandate that a 617 (boston area code) be affixed to the rig.

If the service is a 911 service, isn't 911 it's phone number?

I always see 911 but today I saw an ambulance that had "Medics" on the side in a really big font along with the cross. It was pretty cool though

I'm waiting for the day we see this on some IFT rigs: "Follow us on Twitter"

They could start offering deals via twitter "3 rides with us and your 4th is free!".

Hahahaha yes! "Buy 2 dialysis days, get the 3rd free!"
