    socal emt-fire-training?

I took the course in 2011. I passed the NREMT on my first try. I have also taken my 2 year EMT refresher with them. Yes the course was held in the Angeles National Forest Headquarters (Forest Service). About 85% of the students are Wildland FireFighters from the Forest Service. I found the...

I'm only on an Engine out of the Angeles N.F. Hoping to get on either Bear Divide shots or Texas Canyon next season. I remember seeing Palomar shots on the Canyon Fire in the Sequoia last year. Were you there? Glad to hear you're taking a break to pursue other things. I think sometimes we...

Nice! Was not expecting to see another FS person here :). What crew are you on? What Forest? Judging by your helmet color and my past experience, i've only seen montana crews wearing those helmets. Have a good season bro. Hope we get lots of OT :)

    Vegans?

Was a vegetarian for 10 years. Had 1 bite of steak after all that time and realized what I was missing. That very night, I had the best, medium-rare bloody steak, and never looked back. You just don't go around screwing with 10 thousand years of human gastrointestinal evolution and give up...

    Retention of Information

Some real useful tips in here. Can you guys tell me the specifics? I'm also very interested in the pod casts. I'm looking to self study. Anyone got any good EMT-B study guides that's not like a huge textbook, but at the same time very informative and maybe (if it's not asking too much) an...

    Retention of Information

How do you guys retain all the information and skills that are required to be an EMT (Basic, I, Paramedic, etc). I can imagine that working in the field will keep you exposed to the matter enough that it becomes your second nature, but what about if you have some down time, or you have not been...

THe REal Reason you became an EMT-B

I work on an Engine out in the Forest. Every time we get a medical call, I was the designated person to do "traffic control". I hate doing traffic control. :D

    Upgrade from EMT-B to Wilderness?

I didn't doubt that.. but it would be very beneficial to me in my field if I learned cool tricks like how to make a stretcher out of 4 pulaskis and a nomex jacket. Also, MacGyver was one of my favorite shows as a kid :P

    Upgrade from EMT-B to Wilderness?

If I take one near Lake Tahoe, I'd probably never leave Lake Tahoe, even if it means quitting my job. :D Went there this Christmas and decided to move there once I save some $$. The drive back to L.A. from Tahoe probably felt like being sent from heaven to hell.

    Upgrade from EMT-B to Wilderness?

Nice. Thanks for the link. Unfortunately none of those classes are available in Los Angeles, or even California for that matter. Although flying out to Montana for a few days sounds very appealing :D

    Upgrade from EMT-B to Wilderness?

Heya. I just recently Got my EMT-B, and I'm really interested in upgrading to the Wilderness EMT, or W-EMT, or EMT-W (not sure which one it really is). My question is: Is it possible to just take an upgrade course without having to take the whole EMT-B course again? I did some quick...

    NREMT Practice Quiz Resource Thread

I've used several resources. REA's EMT-B Flashcard book. Lot's of scenario's but pretty easy. Pearson/Prentice Hall EMT-Achieve. Contains 4 150 question tests and a handful of 20 question tests in specific areas. Also on the pretty easy side. Very simple, straight-forward questions...

    Taking NREMT on the 26th...but

Test is in 12 hours roughly. Spent the last month of my life devoted to studying (very literally, possibly in an unhealthy manner). Think I went overboard to the point where my mind feels like the slightest bit more of information will cause it to explode. Wish me luck! I can't imagine...

    Taking NREMT on the 26th...but

Does anyone know if the National Registry has questions like "What is the GCS score of this patient..... 6,7,8,12?" I feel like i'm having a really hard time memorizing all of the Glasgow Coma Scale, and a bit nervous about the NREMT having those questions.
