Our company has no policy on how long students can stay. It's up to the crew. I love having the students stay. There's no way you can get a lot of patient contact within 4-5 hours when we run most of the calls after midnight. If they are interested in EMS, I'll let them stay for 12.
I work with a ton of Paramedics who spent 10-15 years at Denver Health on the 911 ambulances. They have nothing but great things to say about the company. I personally do not believe that EMS should not be fire based at all. It's just too much with both fire and EMS in the areas that the fire...
I wear a kevlar vest when I work and I have a different one when I'm with SWAT.
Me being armed with a gun when I work is just another weapon for a psych patient to grab and another way to get me killed while on duty. Cops have extensive training with weapons they know how to handle situations...
I realize that people do care how much people make in the field that they are trying to get into. But, it's all about the life style that you live.
Any job that you get, you're going to have to start at the bottom and work your way up to a better salary.
I have my EMT-B and some about 24...
It's a fine line and the line is different with everyone. It is nearly impossible to sexually harass me as a guy, but I do know other guys who it would be very easy to do.
The other question is; what if you're dating the person that is on the same crew as you? How do you act around other...
There's not really an EMT-I in Colorado. Get your Paramedic if you want to be above the EMT-B level. But, I don't know many companies here who would hire a medic without any 911 or transfer experience besides maybe AMR or Pridemark, depending on where in Colorado you would move.
In the truck and in red bag. All I have on me is flashlight, trauma sheers, radio, ID tag, kevlar, and pens. Why would I need to carry tape around? That's like someone carrying flushes or 18/20 gages around :P
What you have to think is "What is right for the patient", not "How can I show off". Depending on your protocols, it depends on ALS vs BLS. In our protocols, I can push Narcan for a DO or Paramedic indication.
Any trauma findings on the patient?
If the O2 fixed the irregular breathing, then...
Oh yeah, of course I flirt with them! Haha.
I broke the Golden Rule, though. I dated a co-worker.
She's probably one of the most amazing people I've ever met, she's just not ready for a relationship and we are not on the same page in life even though she's older. Sucks to have to see her...
Because the US schools are ranked pretty low compared to others in the world.
My father was here first on a work visa. It is a pain in the *** to live off of one of those. Thankfully his job decided to get us all green cards. That was right before 911. Before 911, it would take 6-12 months to...
