I recently passed my NREMT and I am now beginning to apply for EMT positions. I have struggled with lifting while in my class but I managed to pass all my skills and the NREMT but now that I am applying places I am worried that I wont be able to properly lift. I am 5'2 and 120lbs. Any tips?

Get good form on deadlifts, and deadlift patients. LIFT WITh YOUR LEGS, or you will have a very short career due to back issues.

I'll also add rows. It's nice to work your upper back muscles. Especially in IFT when most of your patients will be non ambulatory. You need that pulling power to help move patients.

If I am doing a IFT fire wont be there:/

Sorry, was being an *** and facetious. I never hesitate to help my engine crews with the dirty work, we've got a different relationship though because we're in house together.

There's been a lot of good advice in here, technique trumps strength all day every day but you do need to have some strength, particularly in your core, legs a grip.

I think it's a leverage thing...the whole being short makes it impossible for him to lift. [emoji23]
