HI Guys,

I am going to obtain my EMT certification in July 2013. How are the Ambulance jobs these days, in or around LA or Orange County. I know the turn over rate is high. Are there still easy jobs to find?

Any advice would be great.

Thanks

It can be hard to find jobs in Cali. There are a lot of EMTs (I can throw a rock and hit 5) but its not impossible.

You don't want to work in Laco or the oc. Check out Kern County. You actually function as am EMT and not just a taxi driver from dialysis to con home

PRN is not a bad company to work for and NO dialysis runs to and from con homes. Sure we have some hospital to con home runs but more IFT from hospitals to hospitals. Main station is in North Hills but also in East LA, Glendale, Lancaster. Check them out if you are looking for a job.

Don't forget Glendale station. There are a couple dialysis runs, but theres only a couple regulars in my experience, you'll only run one or two a week at the most, not even that often. At least for us BLS there's a fair bit of hospital to SNFs, but plenty of hospital to hospital as well. Even SNF to hospital, clinic to hospital and even private residence to hospital. But yeah, PRN is def one of the best in the county. If you can't get (or don't want) a 911 job, def apply, great EMTs and Medics, great Sups, I've never once had a problem with management, good contracts with hospitals, a few older rigs, but the majority of the ambulances are in good shape, I've never once worried about breaking down or not having AC in the summer, etc
