Looking for anyone who has time to possibly point me in the direction of the Remote Medic field. Currently, I am an WEMT-b enrolled in EMT-i ( EMT-P starts in June of 2013 ). More specifically, here are the classes, or certs, that I have though might come in handy after or during Paramedic school...

OSHA 30 & 40
ACLS, BLS and PHTLS
Remote Medicine: Ronnin
Geo-Medicine: SOLO

Are there perhaps, any more courses that one might recommend, advice as to where to look or how to get a job as a Remote Medic ?
Courses to forget about ?

Remote duty, as far as I'm aware, is the idea of working on off shore rigs, medical ships, remote clinics or hospitals, Civi-medic contracts, guiding or on-hand medical personnel for corporations or organizations alike.

No military experience
1 year experience as an EMT
5 months overseas experience
Committed to doing what it takes to get there.

Sorry not experienced enough or high enough level for me to recommend remote locations for you. Check back in 5 years after getting Paramedic.

Allow me to be a little more clear and to the point, I am looking for direction at the present time, I wont seek remote employment until I have at least 3-5 years of experience in a high call volume agency.

medic417,

I am exactly that, 5 years medic out in a busy 911 system (San Diego). Hit some walls from initial applications. PM you for info?

OP, also get some general practice observation and teaching if you can. Gotta be able to tell ringworm from athlet's foot from apppendicitis from food poisoning from fractured pelvis.

I don't imagine there are many opportunities without being a medic, as you've noted.
