My drama...

(This is the short & sweet version, full version requires 5 pages and lots of cursing)

Ok, so you remember I broke my ankle a while ago, did surgery blah blah blah.
Well that was in April and I'm still having problems with pain, swelling and my foot turning different colors. The dr who originally fixed me decided last month to blow off several of my phone calls and send me to a pain management center. Well the dr there says it looks like Regional Pain Syndrome, which I strongly disagreed with. They send me for a bone scan to rule it out and I got those results yesterday. Apparently it's pretty bad. Looks like there's an infection in there and they say there could be a couple other things wrong with it, but of course no one knows or is sure and I have to go back to a specialist. So today I call to transfer my records to this other dr I'm going to try and irionically my original dr calls me himself (I could never get this man on the phone the entire time he was treating me). He wants to know how I'm doing. And tells me all the things he did before and that the bone scan is questionable (more blah blah blah).

So here I am, hopped up on pain pills again, stewing at the damn orthopedic dr's down here. I haven't been on as much as usual because of all this. AND I can't apply to work because I can't be cleared to work on an ambulance.

Sorry about that wingnut.

Your Dr. called cause he knows he screwed up!! What a common jerk. Get away from him as soon as you can. Keep copies of all of your records yourself. You may need them at some point.

I hope you are able to get some good answers elsewhere. In the meantime, keep your chin up - we are pulling for ya! ;)

Thanks guys. There's not too much pain since they're keeping me with a steady supply of drugs  I thought it was kind of fishy too that the doctor called me when he did and was MORE than happy to discuss things on the phone with me. And last week after the bone scan results were in he suddenly wanted me to come in for a follow-up. I started getting records and making logs last week....just incase. Needless to say I'm anxious to find out what this other doc has to say Tuesday.

Im sorry your having to put up with this crap, as Margaritaville stated, get away from him ASAP. If you dont trust him with your life, dont go to him, find a doc you do trust, that will build confidence with you and your doc of choice.

I wish you the best of luck Tuesday and keep us posted.

I went through the same crap last year, and got a staph infection in my femur. Took a year in the hospital to get rid of it, and 9 surgeries....

I hope your never gets that bad... good luck

Definitely continue with your appointment on Tuesday. Your original doc just wants to save face by not letting his mistake be fixed by another.

Let us know how it goes.

Good luck!

LOL, you're going to love this, the doc I made the appt with on Tues had a big article in the paper yesterday about how he's being sued for malpractice on an ankle.

I give up

My Mom had surgery on her neck including screws and a steel plate being installed. About 3 months later she was intense pain - turns out the steel plate had snapped. Steel doesn't "snap" unless it's under extreme pressure - granted the plate was very very thin, but apparently the doctor had some of the screws on the wrong angle.

Needless to say my Mom didn't pay for the surgery to fix it, but I was annoyed that she had the same doc do the 2nd surgery.

Good luck with everything Wingnut. Are you taking antibiotics? I hope so.

Wow rescue, I hope she's ok now? I don't think it snapped, you can see & feel the plate right under my skin so I doubt anything has happened to it. No one has given me the antibiotics even though they've found evidence of an infection in there, I'm taking some broad spectrums that I already had here just to be safe.

I finally got a good referral and am going to have it checked out monday. I don't know if I would even have a case right now so I haven't gotten with a lawyer yet, I'm waiting to see what happens at my next appt.

Thanks for all the well wishes, it means a lot from you all. :)

Just an update:

I LOVE my new doctor. Very nice guy, Surgery looks ok, but I do not have all the problems that the others said I do. He says it's a severe case of tendonitis and they've been giving me the wrong and a way too aggresive treatment. There are several complications with the hardware and that is what's causing most of my problems. As soon as my 6 months is up he's going to take it out. He guarantees I'll feel 100% better after I do that.

So some new physical therapy, and ride this out until the end of October and I should be good as new (cross fiingers).
