As some of you know, I'm preparing to take the Basic class this summer. To make a long story short: I've been to the doc several times to get caught up on shots and all but one sticking point has remained: I never received a second MMR. My mom always told me that I had a bad reaction to it so I never got a second one. Comes time for me to get my physical for the class and the issue of the shot comes up. I went to get my pediatric shot record and found out that there's no documentation of me ever having an adverse reaction to the vaccine. Now, the school (well, actually I think it's the state) requires either proof of two MMRs or a positive titer. Since I supposedly had an adverse reaction they also needed documentation. Well, as I said, there is no initial documentation. Finally got my titer back. Level of antibodies for rubella to be considered immune is >9. I scored a 7. So, I got a letter from my doc stating she was concerned about giving me a second shot due to the possibility that I had a reaction. I called the program coordinator to see if this would do but I may not hear back from her until next week due to the Easter holiday. So, I'm in limbo.
Sorry for the long post. I guess I just needed to vent. Also wanted to see if anyone else has had trouble like this. Lord, I hope not!
