So I'm sitting at the EMTLife desk (aka my couch) this afternoon and was wondering: Do you tell others about our community?

For the most part, this is anonymous forum. Most members don't use their real name for obvious reasons. Because of this, are you hesitant to share our site with friends and coworkers? Do you prefer to just keep it to yourself?

I look forward to your responses.

I tend to keep it to myself. Someone could probably figure out where I work and who I am but I try to not publicly disclose it.

Probably because I'm an introvert.

I have shared it with some people and had others try to share it with me.
But not with everyone; I feel them out a little before I tell them about it. I have had a couple of co workers tell me I am stupid to be on sites like this.

I found and started to use this forum to get advice and try and make friends so I its easier to break the ice should I meet any in my preferred towns of interest.

How do you share it with others? How did it come up in conversation?

I get told I am a "Ricky Rescue" for being on this site. I do tell people about it though. Usually when bringing up a study or new research that I found out about on here. Or when talking about other services, and how they do things.

I don't really talk about EMTLife, and not because I am hesitant to bring it up for any reason, but I have found that people generally don't want to hear about it (no offense). I always get the "I have kids/a family/a wife and I don't have time to be on a forum".

I've brought it up a few times when talking about some discussions we have on here. It probably helps that several of my coworkers are also active / formerly active members here as well.

I only talk about it with other coworkers who I know are members.

I recommend it to online communities. I don't have any coworkers that I think would spend time here. Most of them believe strongly in a total and complete work/life operation. To each their own, some of us are more interested in our work than others.

interesting...i dont tell people or work with or that i know personally. but in facebook groups i share the link when necessary (not in a spam way).
I learned a lot here and want to share with other newbies

That's what I love to hear. We've grown to be quite a resource, especially in the past few years. We hope that others find our site to be just as useful.

I found EMTLife when looking into equipment and wanting feedback.
Over the time that I've been here, I have found EMTLife to be a great way to share the differences in EMS from place to place, a way of getting input and advise, and a way of venting to others that understand.
If I think someone else in EMS might benefit from all this ... I share it.

I am in nursing school. Apparently there is at least one person on Allnurses.com that believes EMTLIFE is anti-nurses. My attempts to educate the ignorant got the thread closed by the mod. Apparently, this person reads our forum.

Maybe that person is Anti-EMS lol! If they didn't want to listen, then let them be ignorant. I believe everybody should always be willing to educate themselves on things they may be misinformed about.

If friends come to me with questions that I cant really answer I'll refer them to here. Do I tell them I'm on here? Not necessarily because they probably don't care but they could figure out who I am.

I've tried a couple of other sites and just didn't feel comfortable there. I joined to learn and to make new friends in the ems field. This is the best site and I've told a few people about it. Not sure if they joined, but I've tried.

Im also on allnurses. I seem to fit in there pretty well. Even though im not a nurse. I have noticed the community is mostly girls in their late teens/early 20s.

I'll share the website with people because it's a community where people can learn. Its another resource to gain knowledge from and I openly tell people this is where I've read something, be it someone's experiences, or a study done.

I don't give out my username though, but if someone asked if it was me I don't see why I wouldn't say who I am.

I share it if it comes up. I'm not exactly anonymous here and most of the senior staff at my previous job knew of the site and read my posts. I don't know about the current job, but I wouldn't doubt it. EMS is a small world.
