does the minimum systolic blood pressure have to be >90 or >100?

I was taught that it has to be >100, but there are a lot of people who say its >90.
Need to know that just because there might be a NTG question on the NR test.

What does your textbook say? My NR review book used 90.
The minimum bp varies protocol to protocol in the real world.

If it's anywhere near 90 or 100 just assume contraindication for testing purposes. They aren't going to get super technical especially with a varying limit. - I just took the AEMT NR and there weren't any BPs right at the limit when dealing with contrindications with Nitro.

According to the 9th edition of the orange book, the contraindications are:
Systolic BP under 100
Use sex enhancement drugs within 24 hours
Head trauma

What if they took 3 already?
Also hypersensitivety,
And unconscious,

Also hypersensitivety,
And unconscious,

Right sided involvement

And just because they took three don't mean I can't give no more. (Depending...)

If they took 3 reassess bps after 5 mins ans consult with medical control. For unconsciousness I would check ABCs and have the aed ready haha and what do you mean hypersensitivity?? To the drug?

Although i can't speak for NR - every protocol I've ever heard of - including ours here - is systolic >100.

Poor Revatio, always left out of the contraindication list.

Revatio?

Technically it is listed, people just don't realize it.

I see sex enhancing drugs, but Revatio is for pulmonary HTN. The moral of the story for the OP is that mechanism is more important than use.

My protocols list the generic names of the 3 main -afils, so I suppose it depends on the exact wording.

Contraindications for GTN here are:

- BP < 100 mmHg
- HR < 40 or > 150

Medicines for erectile dysfunction and right ventricular infarction are not contraindications, only cautions +/- reduced dose 0.4 mg SL instead of 0.8 mg SL

90 to 100 depending on protocols

Thank you!

This 3 and done stuff is dumb. Maybe granny popped 15 PTA but they are expired by 5 years. What now?

FWIW my protocol says SBP <100 mmHg give a 250cc NS bolus and reasses. We also can jump straight to morphine in patients with a borderline BP and see what it does to their pressure before administering any NTG.

RVI isn't an absolute contra, pretty close though. I personally wouldn't give it unless they had a rock solid pressure. Not 106/70...
