    Medication Errors in EMS

Wow, this thread took a hard left turn. One thing about EMTLife, there's always an interesting discussion! Thanks for the articles, those will help. Still though - any one have an actual published article or case study about a specific instance of improper medication administration? The...

    Medication Errors in EMS

The Rights of Medication Administration? Right patient, right drug, right dose, right route, right time? That's the way I learned them, but apparently they're up to 10 now... http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Ten_rights_of_medication_administration

    Medication Errors in EMS

I have to write a report about the "Rights" of drug administration and what happens when one of those rights is violated. Specifically, I need to find a case where this happened in EMS. IE, I need a news story, lawsuit, or some actual case where an EMT or Medic gave the wrong drug, used the...

    Signed Photo as a gift

Several of my fellow students have decided to go in together and get a signed, personalized photo of Randolph Mantooth (of Emergency! fame) for our instructor. I'm not sure what the personalization should say. Any clever ideas? Our instructor has been an EMT since waaaaay back in the day...

EMS - Knowing what you know, would you still recommend it as a career?

I did ride time for my Intermediate clinicals, so I have a taste (albeit not much of one) for the job. Honestly, I can see how some people would be discouraged by being a Paramedic. I spent 75 hours ride along, and I went on maybe a dozen calls. And those calls were all nursing home...

EMS - Knowing what you know, would you still recommend it as a career?

I'm a volly for a small ambulance service. In "real life" I'm an IT guy/webmaster. I'm ready for a career change, and I love doing what I do as an EMT. So, I'm very carefully considering going back to college and getting my Paramedic degree and being "career". However, I spoke with my...

    lets talk about gloves....

What about for sweaty hands? My hands are normally cold and clammy, and it just gets worse when I hear those tones and get excited. I find by the time I put gloves on, my hands are really sweaty and it's difficult to put them on. Plus, it doesn't help that my hands are big and the extra large...

    Applications/Resumes/Cover Letters/Letters of Recommendations/ETC

The application is pretty thorough, and a resume (CV) would just duplicate it, so yeah, there's no real reason to include it.

    Applications/Resumes/Cover Letters/Letters of Recommendations/ETC

There's this city EMS job for which I want to apply. The website description for the job says to apply "Fill out this application and mail it in, or apply in person". SO, here's my question. Do I mail in JUST the application, per their instructions? Should I also include a resume? What...

    Being an EMT and married

When I approached my advisor about going on to become a Medic, he said "EMS stands for Every Marriage Suffers." He said that often spouses don't want to hear about stories of how you cleared a stoma today, or how you couldn't save that baby, because it's too hard on them. So, you find someone...

    Math for Health Care Professionals

It's the latter. I can do basic math, but for some reason, I'm just not getting this. I'm taking my Intermediate course, and that's my least strongest area so far. Sadly, no one in my class seems very capable, either, so I can't go to them for help.
