Thanks for the replies. I wound up changing up the scenario to a preeclampsia that goes to eclampsia call. This way it is cut and clear on ALS, and also will required meds if they don't assess correctly, as she will start seizing again.
It's hard to paint the picture I was going for in the...
Realistic? I know it might be hard to figure out what the problem is because it could be a lot of things from a bug to food poisoning, but I tried to make it kinda obvious.
That is true, our class is death by power point. Unfortunately they want us teaching, not videos....otherwise trust me, I'd be hitting up some Khan academy and Crash Course videos.
Here is a scenario I came up with for my capstone project, tell me what you think:
TOPIC: Obstetrics
DISPATCH: MED 123 respond emergency traffic to a sick person at 123 Hawthorne Ln. Cad Notes: 20 YOF, nauseated and vomiting. Caller hung up.
BSI/PPE: Gloves
SCENE SIZE UP
Scene is safe

Thanks for the suggestions! I think we are going to do the flow charts, and hand bands, and then chicken bones for IOs.
We also have to cover special patient populations, so we are going to do scenarios to review that information.
StCEMT, I'm looking for ways to review the topics with the...
Hey there! I'm in paramedic school currently and we have to complete a review of anatomy and physiology and special patient care populations.
Our entire training so far has been death by the books power point. My classmate and I are looking for creative ways to review A&P.
So far we have...
So my school keep changing the requirements for our hours for class. I wanted to see if anyone knows where I can get resources from North Carolina OEMS preferrably. I need to find the hours we have to cover in class and how many we can miss. The last portion of our class is a hybrid course and...
I am in paramedic school now and I work as a basic part time. Part time for my agency means I have to pick up a minimum of 3 shifts/month. When I started class in January I was working full time hours (at least 36-48hr/wk), volunteering part time (4 shifts per month) and going to school (one day...
I work in North and South Carolina. Pretty much the same, with SC being a little more...
MEDS:
Narcan-up to 10 mg in NC-even for pediatrics, more if needed with med-control....I hope we wouldn't ever need this much!
Oxygen
Albuterol (if patient has a prescription, can give from our meds though)...
-Stethoscope on stretcher or in first in bag-I tend to loose it when I put it around my neck....imagine that...seems like it would be the safest place, ON me! (I've even left it on a scene before after having it around my neck....o_O)
-My phone on my belt clip
-Pager next to the phone
-Right leg...
Honestly the way I tested was to memorize the NR sheet. When I went into the test I imagined I was "in" the question. If the question was all about a 24-yo female patient and her ab pain, but it asks you what the first thing you'd do or be thinking is, It would more than likely be scene safety...
In one county I've been at on a 14-hr shift we averaged at around 10/day. In another smaller county (rescue squad) we do about 150-200 month. I've been down on days with no calls and some days with 7 calls on 12 hour shifts.
Hello! This is my first post, so I'm not sure if it's in the right spot....but here it goes.
I've just completed my training to be an EMT-B. I've had a lot of people ask
"What do you do beside drive the ambulance?" or "Oh so you're a paramedic now??"
Without overloading, confusing, or...
