That makes sense. The schools around me are only a year long and the list of topics covered are long and varied. The biggest complaint that comes up is always about clinical hours. If you don't mind me asking. What did you find difficult about paramedic school? How did you cope with stress?

So how does your system work? For me I basically set my own schedule and work as many or few hours. Of course there are no benefits and I'm gonna jump on fulltime the second I can. I know some places will call you when they need you.

In my area its sort of a close knit community. Everyone knows someone who knows this guy and so on and so forth. I just recently started in this field and Ive noticed that the ALS medics treat the emts as there Right hand man. In other words they are treated just fine

So does Alert basically do back up 911? I agree that ift would be good for starting out.

from what I understand in Rhode Island the fire departments pretty much have the 911 side of things covered. either the fire department does or the volley rescue squads for rural areas. so the companies are mainly transports.
