yeah.. becoming a TE isn't a big worry for me... I have established 2 in the past.... but figuring out all of the paperwork stuff, etc.. on a new business has me a bit confused. The state IS pushing Core stuff at the P level and above, but I really think that they'll be leaving B Levels and...

    Just checking in...

Hey CP... I know you from "the other site" as well.... I hate to see you stop adding input to this site. Keep your chin up... look for work elsewhere, and when you least expect it things will work out for you in EMS.... I always say that I NEVER get offered jobs unless I just started a new...

    Smoking

I quit cold turkey.... was taking the CPR Instructor class, and the IT, who is someone that I admire and respect greatly, reminded me how bad it was for me... about 2 weeks later I did a PFT, and was living with the total lung capacity of one lung (I also have asthma)... the choice was pretty...

    Interview questions

I don't think I'd tell them that you have a hard time letting things go.... and I agree, they hear the "Perfectionist" line a bazillion times. Public Safety folks are by and large Type A personalities, so yeah... perfectionism is a given. Good luck to you though!

Ambulance Driver = EMT = Medic

I have to agree 100% with ffemt8978.... I'm sorry that you've had so many problems with the "Bubba's" out there, but I assure you that they are in the minority.... I too have great respect for all of the PARAmedics that I work with, whether they are my favorite people outside of work really...

    Just a volunteer again

No such thing as "just" a volunteer... you're still providing an important service... sometimes it's even more enjoyable than the "real" job!

Go solo or with a partner to final practicals

In Missouri there are usually a State Evaluator (sometimes 2), a patient, and if not a second evaluator a MEMSA "helper".... you're not totally on your own, but you do have to tell your "helper" what you want them to do.

Go solo or with a partner to final practicals

    Damn you, NR!

I'll give you the same advice I give my students... 1. Read the question 2. Read it again (sometimes our eyes skip those all so important words like "except" or "always".) 3. close your eyes, and think of the answer 4. (open your eyes) Read the choices 5. Find the choice that is...

How did you get your first EMS job?

First EMS "job" was as a volunteer..... and basically I just signed up and they took me. First paying job was as an Instructor, and I worked my Arse off to get it... lots of proving had to be done.

    Your First Call

Well... here's the best way to explain how it was for me... here I am, 17 years later, and I still remember the color of the oncoming car, and the make and model of the vehicles involved. I can see the little boy's face like it was yesterday. Do I have bad dreams about it... nah... but no one...
