The ambulance service that I had signed on with last year let me go. I went thru orientation, got ride time, did a lot of training, and thought things were okay. The last two months I didn't hear from them. Prior to this, what they had done is e-mail me with shifts as I live in another county. This week I received a certified letter from them stating "since they hadn't heard from me, they consider it as me not wishing to be employed by them" and that if I wish to continue with them "I will be required to do orientation again".
Anyway, they were the ones who set up the e-mail communication system with me previously. I waited for two months to hear from them. My thinking on it, is that it was somewhat problematic for them as I was not from there and it became too burdensome for them to train me. There was nothing in the letter stating they had problems with me, nothing to indicate a disciplinary issue, nothing saying I had done anything wrong. They were the ones who broke contact with me.
I am sending my ID and key back to them today. I will not go thru orientation again. It took them roughly six months to complete orientation....training and paperwork.....to even get me on an ambulance as a third person. Gas prices such as they are.....and their extremely slow way of doing things.....I'm not doing it again. And I'm stuck with 6 shirts from the service I paid for, and could ill-afford!
I'm still on a volunteer fire department (the one I made a website for) here where I live as a Firefighter/EMT, and for now will concentrate on that. It is starting to look and feel like getting on a paid service isn't in the cards for me, and being a volunteer is it.
I am a little disappointed at how things turned out, but I'm not mad, depressed or don't have hard feelings over it. If they didn't want me they could have just said so. I'm a big girl
So, I'm just a vollie girl again. <shrug>
