    What to do know

Okay for most of you, you know or remember that I run with a volley squad. And love every minute of it. Right Well not so much any more. I still love going on calls and helping the patient and their families. Which is what EMS is about right? Well I have taken myself off the schedule for...

    Ob ?

I would agree with the others. Load and go, you can always stop and deliever if needed or you can arrive at the hospital and leave her in the hands of the hospital staff. Now if her water broke I'm thinking that would be another story.

Go solo or with a partner to final practicals

Sounds about right. With the above comments. That is how we do it in Iowa. You are the only student and the pt along with the evaluator are both EMTs. The evaluator is your helper as long as you tell them what to do.

Bad MVC - Lost First Patient

I'd agree with everything posted up above. Death is something we deal with and we all find our own way to deal with it after it has occured. I will also agree with others that have mentioned that once you loose the feeling of loss after a death it is time to move on. You just have to know...

What do you all carry with you (on your person)?

All I carry in to the house with me is my pager, cell phone, pockets: cash for meals, chap stick, pen, tape (if it is a major incident), Stethoscope Depending on call B/P cuff hanging around neck, and if needed a scissors in a pocket And if anything else is needed it is all in the bags.

    How many runs so far?

I know we have been busy this year also. If I had to guess we have had a good 150 for EMS and fire has had between 6-12. I'm not really sure. This week "Knock on wood" has been fairly descent. You have to remember we are a small town and a good half of the calls are transfers to the city...

    Removing seated victim from MVA

For us the reason why we have at least 2 backboards is most of our accidents seem to involve at least 2 people and we often times transport both pts in the same rig if we have 3 EMTS in the rig. I can't even tell you how many times we have taken an ambulance full of patients. Where there were...

    Removing seated victim from MVA

I agree about having a min of 2 LSB. We however have about 3-4 LSB, 1 KED, 2 Peds Board, Scoop, 1 Stair Chair which can be used as a stretcher.

    Volunteer Opportunities

We run two twelve hour shifts each day. A 6a-6p and then 6p-6a. As for those that work 9-5's depending on where they work they can take day call and if they aren't allowed to leave work then they just pick up the night shift. We also tend to break up day shifts if we can only be on for half...

    firefighter rehab/skill stations

Do you guys participate in rehab for the firefighters and if so what is your protocal? I'm also trying to get skills stations set up. What have you guys found to work well for this? I'm thinking of spliting the squad into small groups and having the basic stuff that we don't do every day in...
