    /Homework help

A side effect is an effect, whether therapeutic or adverse, that is secondary to the one intended; although the term is predominantly employed to describe adverse effects, it can also apply to beneficial, but unintended, consequences of the use of a drug. An untoward effect is only an adverse...

Generally, is it frowned upon to leave a company to work for another company?

I just did this. Worked for company A for 2 years, moved on to company B for a year then decided to go back to company A due to various reasons. I think each company is going to be different. Old or new management? Leave on good, decent, poor terms? Leaving Company A to Company B, which...

2nd day on the job as a EMT. Help!?

It's your second day. No one will have everything figured out on their second day. Everyone has issues with this when they first start. If you're still having issues practice taking the stretcher in and out of the ambulance with equipment on it, or ask your FTO to hop on- that'll show...

    HIV? Paranoid much?

Instead of asking a forum you should grab your text book or hit the internet and look up how HIV is transmitted. This will do 2 things: 1 - You'll get definitive answers for your questions and, 2 - As a student you'll learn something new. Lets face it, being in EMS you'll be exposed to...

    Contraindication of oxygen?

What? This is NOT a contraindication for emergency use of supplemental oxygen in the pre-hospital setting! High-concentration oxygen should not be withheld when required only because the patient might be a carbon dioxide retainer and stop breathing. In reality, this is quite unusual. Just...

    Contraindication of oxygen?

This might sound silly but if the patient doesn't need oxygen, it's contraindicated. A chest pain patient who has an SpO2 of 96% does not need O2. Besides a patient with an adequate (>94%) SpO2, I'm not familiar with any.

    Ride a longs..

I might start off by recommending you contact the school you are going too and talk to an administrator or possibly an instructor (especially if they're currently working in EMS) and ask them who provides 911 EMS service for your area. A quick Google search of "Frederick MD EMS" turns up a...

If your local service is a fire based EMS system, then call the the FD HQ. If it's private, contact the HQ of those private companies.

    Hours of sleep

I get anywhere from 4-6 hours of sleep on a regular basis. Sometimes I'll get that 7th hour in. As Anjel said you'll have to go off of how your body responds to that amount of sleep, but I think it's completely doable.

Thinking of going back to old company......what to do?

If I was a supervisor or management and you brought in a coffee that'd definitely help... ^_^ But seriously, if you know they drink coffee or whatever it might help sweeten the deal if you bring one in. And you are welcome! Good luck, hopefully everything works out! :D

Thinking of going back to old company......what to do?

I think it depends on the company but the place I went back to management is super relaxed. When I walked in and sat down it was like chatting with a friend, super comfortable and easy going, I didn't feel awkward at all. I can't speak to your company but try to keep it professional, yet casual...
