I think you have a mustache, wear glasses (for reading) and have a favorite ballcap.
You forgot the third eye.

Yeah, but what does the generic EMTLIFEr look like in you mind's eye?

Haha. I actually have a very specific vision of what each regular contributor looks like. This is often based on the way they respond; the level of detail to which they delve and a perceived level of saltiness. Since there really are only 10 or so actual different personalities within the field, I think I end up assuming that they look like the mean between those with similar personalities that I know in real life.

I also decide which of the four following categories they fall in to:
1. Would want to work with and want to drink beer with.
2. Would want to work with but NOT drink beer with.
3. Would NOT want to work with but would drink beer with.
4. Stay away from me.

Being artsy, I think it would be interesting to make a caricature for each personality: The retired codger (respect), the hipster, ex-military, firefighter wannabe, the magic......

I know what many of the people here actually look like, but I definitely develop individual images of those I don't. I tend to be way off base, though

Great thread and fun!

I was very active on a different EMS forum for many years and one year I drove from Alaska to Florida. I arranged a meetup in every state and Canada (sometimes several meetings in the state I was visiting) and had the pleasure to meet over 30 people from the site.

I can say it was a heck of an adventure and very few people were as I imagined them. Some were way better, some were worse and some were complete 180 of their online persona.

I would do a similar journey in a heartbeat if I had the time.

For those I don't know, I have vivid mental pictures. For those who know me in real life... Keep the secret. :)

This sounds freakin' amazing. What a great experience for you. I'd love to take on a similar adventure someday.

Hold the salt.

I have no imagination at all. Some people I have added on Facebook, and I still do not picture them when I read their post.

Thought you had a photo posted somewhere.. Ahh well.

Depends..

The Retired ones - Sitting at their computer desk, with a desktop computer cup of coffee.. maybe a bathrobe and slippers..

The On the job ones - scrolling and posting via their iPhone,

And the rest of us.. locked up in a real nice white jacket that lets you hug yourself :)

The random sarcasm I provide doesn't change in real life. its actually a little more Rated R. Vs Rated PG.. Kinda forum etiquette. As far as visuals.. You would never believe I am a 31 yr old parent of 3 kids. (2 biological, 1 Step). Most people think I am only 25.

I usually go off everyone's username, which leads to some odd mental images.

My avatar pretty much sums it up.

Like the above poster, I associate images of people with their avatars. I haven't really given much thought to the physical characteristics of members here. I do however know that some people are very interested in that sort of stuff which is why I made my profile picture a picture of me. I figured if you're interested enough to check out my profile, maybe you'd like to see who you are chatting with, while still affording me some privacy.

Excellent thought..

I guess I'm just too lazy to attach a profile pic.
