Working for 2 IFT companies in Los Angeles County

I was told that it is illegal to work for more than 1 IFT company in the same county as it is a conflict of interest. If you wanted to leave 1 company you could persuade 1 of the patients to follow you to the next company.

being that I am new to this industry I am looking for information on where this law is. I couldn't find it doing a broad Google search or 1 on this forum.

Don't know of such a law usually thats just a moonlighting policy which means you can't hold down 2 jobs in the same industry. I work for a company that has a strict moonlighting policy. Your options are to work out of the county for another provider or go work at coffee bean.
 
I didn't even know such a law existed. Thanks for clearing that up for me.
 
I think it's more of a company policy than any sort of law. For my company we can not work for a competitor of our company in our county.
 
Yeah I've never heard of an actual law against it, and I've known people who've worked for 2 companies at once. It's probably more of a specific policy at whatever company
 
No law that I know of. However policies prohibiting more than one employer as a do not compete clause are common. And uncommonly hard to enforce
 
The hard part you will have is MOST companies in the LA area operate in Orange County. You would have to work for AMR San Bernardino, Ventura County, Riverside County, San Diego County.

Well its to protect the companies interest. So what if you need to work more vs starve lol
 
I know of people who worked for two IFT companies without an issue (FT for one, PT for another). Mainly comes down to whether the employer specifically made you sign any noncompete documents. Working two IFT jobs is a quick way to burn yourself out though, so be careful... besides, most companies will let you pick up a good amount of OT, especially if you're willing to cover some nights and weekends.

I didn't bring it up, I didn't make a big deal out of it, and I never had an issue.
Don't ask don't tell, don't try and persuade patients to choose a new dialysis transport provider, and you should be just fine. Just don't get to a point where you have to turn down OT at your FT gig because you're scheduled at your PT, have your priorities clear.
There's always stand-by work in and around LA, and it's a great way to get in assessment practice.

But Bro only one true dialysis transport in all L.A. MED-TRANS-LIFE-REACH-ALL-PRO-AMBU-AMERICAN-ELITE-AMBULANCE serving LA city and OC bro.... some transports in LA county with no license but its ok bro! Nobody important know! lol
 
Bro. It's right on the county-city line, bro. As long as the patient waits and we return them it's technically a wait-and-return bro.
 
never heard of non-compete LAW, only non-compete CLAUSES. It makes sense that a company wouldn't want an employee to work for a competitor.
 
It needs to be a law that counteracts this policy. Especially when there are more opportunities for employment in LA and so little for 911 only companies
