So, I have already taken the drug test already but yesterday I got woken got by a call from the company. The lady on the side asked for a phone number to my past employers and I have provided her with the latest one (which I have worked for four years). I wondering what kind of info does the company try to acquire from past employees. The thing is that I have not left my last employer on good terms cause I have found out that they were setting me up in order to fire me. Its a long story though. Do you have an idea what is it that they ask? I saw old similar threads but they do not reflect the same question. Thanks!

Not sure how it works in EMS but for most hospitals they only verify if you were an employee, the dates you worked there, your position/title, and if you are eligible for rehire. They usually do not go into specific questions since they are talking to HR and not anyone who directly knew you.

Basically what Chase said.

They verify your employment, dates, position and would they hire you again or not.

My understanding is they cannot ask for specifics regarding why your employment there ended, but that may vary from state to state.

Yes, that is the info. they divulge on paper, or 'on the record'

Then, after that is formally noted, comes the question, 'So, what was he really like...?'

Your reputation precedes you and it's not who you are, it's who you know.

Every company is worried about getting sued nowadays. The majority will not divulge anything other than employment dates, position title, pay, and eligibility for rehire. If they go into specifics they open themselves up to a potential lawsuit which could cost them millions.

Everyone's worked somewhere that just didn't click. I wouldn't be too worried about a single job, it's when they call and your past three jobs say you're not eligible for rehire that things become a problem.
