Hi all... I am considering potentially making software changes, and I am curious about what you like and don't like...

We currently use ESO for EPCR and Aladtec for scheduling, employee management, and time clocking.

I need:
  1. Better narc accountability
  2. Better scheduling
  3. More robust forms/tracking
  4. LMS
  5. Credential tracking
And it needs to be affordable.

9th brain has some of what you're looking for.

For scheduling and forms, we used to use Aladtec, now use eSchedule, will be switching to ESO next year. I think ESO is expensive overkill for scheduling volunteers. Our County uses ImageTrend for PCR. We also use a smattering of Google Forms.

For the pharmacy, we will be using LogRx and Master Lock.

Credential Tracking is mostly done via a spreadsheet and emails.

My agency is all volunteer, with around 40 volunteers. We partner with our County, but have mostly 100% separate software and systems for maintaining staffing.

We use Protean for equipment tracking/PM dates, employee certifications, daily checklists, and a whole smattering of other forms on the program. Overall I am actually a big fan of it.

I have launched and managed both ambupro (trash) and ImageTrend. I was hot for ESO when it came out, thankfully at the time a neighboring department was launching ESO and hated it for its lack of customization.

I absolutely love ImageTrend on both the back end and the front end. It’ll do everything you asked and then some, but be advised you’ll have to buy a separate staffing module called Slate if you want it to do scheduling.

Feel free to PM me and I’ll give you my email, I get geeked up on ImageTrend

Unfortunately, in my experience, there are very few all in one program that will suit all of your needs.

We used to use WhenToWork, and it was the best scheduling software I have ever dealt with. But that's all it was, a scheduling software, nothing else. I've used aladtech, and while it had some decent modules for public safety, it's scheduling (particularly it's syncing with external calendar systems) left much to be desired.

What does your narc accountability program look like? what are your requirements?

for forms and tracking, office has a great web based system, where you can create a form, and when the user presses submit, it is sent to you as a spreadsheet. really easy to use.

LMS.... there are plenty of LMS systems (corporate America uses them all the time), not all are EMS related; do you want something that is prebuilt with EMS modules, or provides a platform where you need to create all of the training courses?

Credential tracking.... always a PITA, but I've seen excel used the best. check it every month, sent out notices to people who have certs that are going to expire.

Vector Scheduling/Crewsense is the best scheduler I’ve ever worked with (Aldatec, when2work, Telestaff, ESO). I am told it is a winner on the admin side as well. User interface is great, multiple ways to view the schedule/assignments, and seeing/using PTO is very easy. They are owned by vector solutions who has a solid LMS/credential tracker as well. Seems like everyone in Colorado on west uses Target/Vector solutions. Pretty easy to load custom content it felt. AMR was probably not using 9th Brain to its best ability but Target has a lot more functionality. I have no idea on the cost, we get a deep discount through group buy.

PSTrax for rig checks and narcotics worked well, we dumped it for the Pyxis and I would not recommend that. Also rolled out PSTrax for maintenance on everything from the station to LPs. I think it’s solid—you can make it as granular as you want, have alerts default to certain people’s emails, and it generally was stabl/not buggy. We also used it to order supplies to our EMS division. I do not believe it’s expensive.
