Personal growth? Lose weight? Make some saves? Colorful goofs?

excellent. like every summer of lifeguarding. technically not quite over, cuz i get to pick up a few weekends here and there. my 8 hour shift yesterday turned into 13 hours, which made it much more interesting.

Finished thesis, beat traffic ticket in court, moved back to So Cal (good. bye. Taxachusetts!), and started school. All in all, not a bad summer.

C'Mon, we have some more!

WHat about those water park and summer camp/baseball camp/etc. jobs?

I gave English lessons to Japanese students, as I do all year long. Though, this time I might have started the meiotic process within the reproductive organs of one my best students.

I turned into a white cloud this summer. And I worked some boring office jobs. So, not much to report here...

Sat in a chair at a pool for money, resuscitated a three year old boy, rescued quite a few children from the deep end. And now I'm getting paid $25 by the same pool to mop a small room once a week.

Ended winter with 2 jobs... started summer with none (and they say the economy is turning around? Not around here)... Tried to get back on ambo... missed the hiring period locally be 2 months... waiting for the next hiring... waiting for winter and that well paying winter gig... Devoted 95% of my summer time to SAR... Training the Puppy for trailing... Organizing medical and technical training for the team... logged a few hundread hours of training... Burned the old team training manual... Wrote a new training manual from scratch... worked a few missions (ground searches, swiftwater recoveries, ATV calls, helicopter calls, and medical missions)... even got "promoted" to IC on one of those calls when I found myself senior on the call...

Not a great summer... but I have had worse...

I arranged lamps on shelves. Customers bought them en masse. I've got a standing offer for next summer/winter break and hopefully an EMT card out of the summer. All in all I'm pleased.

I learned a lot more than I expected working as an EMT at an amusement park.

Played with CPAP, king airways, etc.

Became an expert at bandaging weird wounds in weird places (KNUCKLE BANDAGES ROCK!).

Way more comfortable with Peds.

Met my boyfriend.

To the date, since the season began in May, we sent 30-35 people out by ambulance.

And we aren't finished til Nov 1.!

Knuckle bandages... yep. They have far more uses than just knuckles... It's also amazing what one can do with a 2x2 pad and some Zonas...

Yup.

I worked at a Boy Scout camp...fun times.

it was totally different from EMS. I felt like a combination of a mother and an urgent care clinic. Some of the stuff I saw was really, really silly. And I discovered that showering can actually be a MEDICAL NEED... and I had to force it a few times with some kids, about mid-week.

I'd fit right in there.... ;)

I just have the same job but times changed.

Dept was gutted of support while undergoing transition to computerized appointments, computerized medication dispensing, with radical changes in formulary. Oh, yeah, changed to 12 hr shifts, lost most of our MD's/NP's/PA's, and mostly work shift 1 to 3 short. No deaths, staff or inmates.

Found out will be a granddad for first time next spring, about the time I can retire.

Daughter moved back home from stupid college (left dorms unrepaired and spruced up front parking lot).

And once again found out I'm not nearly as capable as I was a few years ago, so CERT will have to use me much less physically.

I'm enjoying reading these!
