Ok..this is going to be fun. They have shifted the track back to P'cola, which puts Fort Walton Beach (where I am sheltering at my work) on the Eastern Eye Wall.

We currently have 49 mile an hour sustained winds, with land fall still 2-3 hours out.

People are starting to come into the ER with "hurricane emergencies" such as allergic reactions that started this morning, babies that suddenly need bilirubin checks and the parent HAVE to wait, abdominal pain, finger pain, leg pain..

Hows that song go..

"My Neck... My Back...My P***y...my Crack"

Yea...all of that.

Then there are the women in labor. Drop in pressure = babies dropping out.

The fire and EMS providers in 4 counties have suspended service until after the storm. The Fire, EMS, and City Government in Destin are evacuating out of Destin.

Looks like it should be a fun afternoon.

Its 1145.....winds still 45-50 MPH...lights here at the hospital have started to flicker some....wonder how much longer the power will hold.

I was reading an update about the 1015 statewide conference call. The call ended with the person running the call saying "Good Luck Santa Rosa County."

Thats not to comforting. I live in Santa Rosa County. My mom and sister also live there.

They are already reporting storm surge of 7 feet.

The hospital here has boarded up every entrance to include the ER doors. People can still come through the ambulance bay, if they drive up.

And lunch was free. Including the 5th food group, Ice Cream!!!

This is Dennis.

Ok..some jackass just called into the radio station...

He was WALKING across the bridge from Fort Walton Beach to Destin. He said he had to be in Fort Walton and he is pretty sure the police wouldn't want him DRIVING right now!!!

DumbASS!!!

What flavor ice cream?

Stay calm and keep your wits about you. We are all with you at heart.

Various kinds of Drumsticks, Toll House Cookie Sandwiches, Push Ups, Ice Cream Sandwiches, Butterfinger Ice Cream Bars, Crunch Bars, Fudge Bars, Popsicles....

I think thats it.

Dennis is about 55 miles South of here, moving North/North East at 18 MPH...We should start feeling the Hurricane Force winds in the next hour or so.

I am surprised we still have the power....

Wonder how long this will last.

There have been a few leaks in various spots of the ceiling. I am about to go get my bedding off the floor, just in case we get water on the floor in there.

Oooooooooooooo..........sounds good.

Hey, you said a few days ago, "No, No, no relationship for me" or something to that effect. Isn't this relationship with this guy named "Dennis" happening a little fast and furious?

I will stay logged in and check back frequently. The best I can do at this point for support.

Hang in there.

Dan

PS Also in chat if you want or can. If I do not respond right off, do not give up I will be with you asap.

Winds in Navarre are 70 MPH with Gusts up to 100 MPH.

Now they are saying Navarre will get the Eye or the Eastern Eye Wall.

Well, I wanted to get a new place to live anyway. :(

Don't loose hope just keep thinking positive. Things might not turn out as bad as you think.

Lights are really beginning to flicker now. The storm is less than 40 miles from making landfall now....

OH...and the city of Fort Walton Beach has put into effect an ALCOHOL BAN....it actually started last night at midnight.

Now THATS crazy!!! :P :D

I will have a couple for ya.

How you doing anyway?

Princess, sounds like you're doing ok so far, hang in there. I'm sure you've lost power by now, but I'm thinking of ya!

Keep us posted!

I am ok right now. I am starting to stress about my moms house a little. And my kids pets. It looks like I won't be able to get home for a couple days either, as water has breached the highway that leads to Navarre. There is only one way to get there, so when its gone we have to wait for them to get it fixed before we can get back. So that sucks.

But my kids, mom, and sister are safe. I just talked to them. My sister, mom and daughter are out shopping and my son, brother-in-law, and nephew have gone to lunch and the movies. So they are having fun.

MSNBC said Fort Walton Beach Medical Center (where I am at) is one of the best equipped places anywhere to ride out a storm in, so thats a good thing.

Well, the wind is getting REALLY bad now. The whole building keep groaning. Walls have been shaking...

Power is not gone yet (its 1:21 pm)

But the lights keep dimming...

It wont be long now...

As long as everyone is safe, that is the main thing. Material things including houses, can be replaced. Chin up. I'm still here.

The Eye is about 20 minutes away....

Still have power...YEA!!!!

And the best news of all...Dennis is now a Cat 3 with only 130MPH winds.

I guess that is good news. 130 vs 145 is a big difference
