Hey guys, just got certified as a NREMT-p Im trying to look for jobs in the east coast any ideas?

Well...I would start by narrowing your search as the East Coast involves about 12 states and Washington DC...and possibly the Puerto Rican Territory.

So, once you have it focused on just 1-2 states, then we can assist further.

Make a list of job attributes that are important to you and then find a service that matches your needs.

Okay I can do that but I'm mostly looking in places like newyork. Massachusetts, Maine, Connecticut, and new jersey.

as N7 said... let us know what kind of service or environment you're looking for.
Urban?
Suburban?
Rural?
Fire-Based? Third Service? Private?
IFT? 911? SCT/CCT?
24-hour shifts? 16s? 8s?
PB? Double Medic?
If you have NR, it's much easier for you to get certification in CT, RI, ME, etc. than MA or NJ. Keep that in mind. Reciprocity isn't impossible, but more difficult.
Are you looking for a pension? 491(k)/403(b)? Do you have cost of living requirements?

If you come back to us with a sense of what you're looking for, it is much easier for us to help, and point you towards services that meet your preferences.

To answer your question I would like to be in an Urban place, Firebased and a regular ambulance service works fine for me I prefer 24hour shifts because I'm used to it but all in all I want 40 hours a week if possible. And about the pension I really don't have a lot of knowledge about it which sucks. For the cost of living I know newyork city is expensive but I'am a commuter.

lill, why don't you look at a list of urban areas in the states you're interested in moving to, do some research on the fire-based EMS services in those cities, and come back to us with a list. We have members here from all over, and should be able to give you some information about these cities and the type of work. I'll tell you that around me in MA, fire-based EMS is almost all hired based on civil service.

If you're interest in MA civil service, you need to get on the lists as soon as possible, sign up for a written exam, a PAT, etc.

It's really difficult for us to produce a job for you, with little additional information. I'll tell you this. The job market sucks almost everywhere. Fire-EMS jobs are hard to come by almost everywhere, even coming in as a medic.

I recently enlisted in the US ARMY as a medic. I will receive thh NREMT-B certification upon completion. You could check with a military recruiter and possibly get additional LPN training for free.

If you go the army route get 'em to pay for something better than LPN. If it was me I'd see if I could get PA out of it or at least RN.
