Are any of you a member of NAEMT? I got the brochure with my packet and wondering if its worth joining.

Nope. Never saw any point.

I am. Can't say I've been as active with it as I have with some of the other organizations I belong to, but I hope to change that now that I'm transitioning out of some roles with other volunteer groups. I've volunteered to help out with their health & safety task force, but haven't heard anything back yet (its only been a couple days).

The journal's good...a little thin, but has some good info. They do offer a couple of discount programs on supplies and books if you buy any of that stuff for yourself. There's also a group insurance program for members...I THINK you get some free life coverage when you join, but I'd have to go back through my records to check.

Nope. I'm a member of the PA Assn. of Ambulances so I can have the DOT EMS License Plate. That's 60 bucks a year; and the PA Fireman's Assn., that's another 20 a year, the Forest Fire Lookout Assn., 15 a year; A voting member of the Professional Car Assn, 120 bucks a year, The PA Antique Car Assn. 25 bucks a year, and a member of four vol. fire departments 20 bucks more in dues...

I don't need to worry about any more dues to pay. All of them have their own benefits, comrodary, etc. The Antique Car Assn opens the door for me to have my ambulance inspected by Cadillac Commercial Car Mechanics; The fireman's Assn got me antique emergency vehicle plates for my car so I don't have to pay for inspection and registration; the ambulance assn gets me free Con-Ed credits, newsletters about what is finally happening w/ EMS in PA, and the FFLA pays me to take pictures from and of the fire towers that I've worked on.

I've had stuff sent to me from the National Assn of EMT's, but never considered it. How much are the yearly dues?

Other than the license plate for my caddy, which was from another member of the PAFA, the only think I get from the fireman's assn. is a membership sticker every time I pay my dues. So if you like to have a box full of assn. stickers that you would never stick on anything, it's the club to join!

Never heard of it.

I'm a member of the Fireman's Association of the State of NY. $20 per year. Get a lil magazine and a neat magnet for the car. :)

Between my regular job and the fire service, there's a bunch of organizations I belong to:

Work
American Society of Safety Engineers (the one I'm most active in, have been an officer, including President, in my local chapter for about 6 years now).
National Fire Protection Association (yes, for work more so than for the fire service)
American Industrial Hygiene Association

Fire/EMS
National Association of EMTs
California State Firefighters' Association (paid for by the city...all our personnel are members)
National Volunteer Fire Council (will probably not renew next time...not too impressed)
