Hello,

I am interested in working for MedicWest or AMR in Vegas and was wondering how the pre-employment test works for paramedics.

I read on the web-site that they do a written and then a skills test and lift test and interview. If anyone knows any specifics about these that would be super cool.

Thanks!

*interested as well*

I worked there for a few months before the Army. They'd test you, interview, sometimes 3rd rides, then a job offer. AMR Vegas and MedicWest are both professional, high-speed operations that showcase the best side of EMSC's operations.

Ya everything about it sounds very good, I can't wait for them to contact me and invite me to test!!!

what is the written test like?

what is the skills test like?

how do they conduct their interviews?

Also what are the chances that a new medic will get a job offer?

also what kind of schedule do they run out there?

As far as call volume goes does anyone know the break down between 911, IFT, SNF transfers, psych transfers, and stuff like that?

Lots of everything, if I remember correctly.

Never worked there but my old partner did for years and loved it.
MW was bought out by EMSC, who operates AMR, but from what I hear the two companies still operate separately. They both draw from the same hiring pool.

Per my partner, and mind you this was 3+ years ago, you'd average 6-8 calls in a 12 hr day, mostly 911 but SNF calls came out as 911s as well.

They run a 4-3-3-4 schedule unless something changed. 12 hour shifts. Maybe the random 16 but don't quote me.

The Nevada state OEMS and Clark County OEMS are completely separate, so if you're applying make sure you have your Clark County stuff in line. I know there's a protocol test involved with that whole process.

I am actually testing with them next week. I can give you more information after that.

oh i need to keep track of this thread. i'd like to work out there after medic school. starting internship in a few weeks. nervous. haha.

good luck to who's testing and to job hunting
