Hi all - just passing this along.

Just wanted to let folks know that this has not been forwarding per the IT dept. It has been fixed as of 9/21 afternoon PST. If you sent something on or before 9/21, please resend so you can be considered by the recruiting team.

So, I get the shelters and streets, what's the deal with the rivers? Help a non-LA person out cuz up here deploying to a riverbed means drysuits and body recovery.

LA River is fairly unique, it was paved over in the 30s, so it's more a giant storm channel nowadays. Thanks to the drought, it's generally far more dry than wet (though the Swift Water Rescue Teams are kept busy when the rains do come).

Plus there are tons of bridges for roads and train tracks crossing it, so without much other traffic, a lot of homeless set up encampments in there, particularly under the bridges where they're generally unbothered by people or cops or whatever

Since I can't open it: how much is the pay, and how hard is it to get certified to work in LA? I have 34 weeks of leave

A little birdie told me several of these positions were approved at an $80 / hour rate.
