Well, I pulled out of the medic program and entered the RN program...Can I still play here?
:D

Incedently, RN's here can challenge the paramedic test, I just thought it was a smarter choice for school since I was planning on both anyway.

no you rat *******, you cant play in this sandbox

good luck with school

i imagine th morons will start *****ing how you wont be a legitamate medic for RN challenging it, but screw them they have small penises, even the women

Best of luck to you! :)

RN's here can challenge the paramedic test,

what? you mean your state doesn't have a ems dictator who likes to control every single aspect of mobile medicine within it's borders while granting zero reciprocity to those individuals within in THAT WOULD LIKE TO HELP IF THEY COULD?

good gawd! the next thing will be recruiting those dominoe pizza kids, 15 minutes or your ER bill free?

~S~

CONGRATS Wingnut. I am doing the same thing. Why should I spend the 18 months it the medic program when I would have to turn around and spend another 18 months in the RN program...this way its 2 years, challenge the medic test and done.

Hey Steve-O, why would Fl want to grant reciprocity to anybody else...why THAT would take money away from our state.

Thanks! LOL Stevo

Princess I didn't realize you were doing the same thing. I just switched over last week. It killed me to un-register for medic school, but when I realized it only cuts out two semesters of the nursing program it just didn't make any sense to stay in it. And I would LOVE to work as a medic off the bat, but the medic schedule here is 24on 48 off and all medics are full time. With Jay working at the jail or on the roads over night and my kids being so young I can't ask my family to take the kids overnight 2 or 3 days of the week. So I'll get my RN and *cross my fingers* that I passed the NR then I can work part time as an EMT-B and part time as an RN. Then I won't be so damn green when I challenge the -P test and really work.

Sorry for all the blabbing, this stuff has been rolling over & over in my head for the last month. This summer "break" is a nightmare. I have nothing to do but drive myself crazy thinking.

Sounds like you have a good plan - good luck to you! :) And you can still play with us of course!

Good luck Wingnut :D That is similar to what I am doing also except for it is going to take me four years for my RN I am half way there. Then I am planing on pursuing the Paramedic. I agree with rescuecpt on that you can still play here.

Good luck to all of you. I have nothing against RN's :P so, I guess its ok to still play. :D

Steve is right, Vermont stinks in the area of cross certification. A few years ago we had a lady that had been an I-tech for many years. She went on to nursing school, but in the process her I-cert lapsed. She became an RN and when we checked on the possibility of her challenging the test to regain it, we were told she would have to take the course again.

I would like to wish the best of luck to both of you.

Good luck. Similar to my plans, except, I'm doing EMT-P first, then going for Nursing school.... Hopefully I can find a school that won't make me re-take too much BS stuff.

Im doing it this way becuase, quoting a wise old medic friend "The PHRN's (Pre-hospital RN's) tha are RN's who chalenge the test, as a rule, have a hard time adapting to a protocol-driven enviroment, without direct MD direction of EVERYTHING)

Jon, that makes sense but I would think that would be a problem for RN's who have worked for a while and then became medics by challenging. I'm not degrading your way of doing it by any means, do what works for you...but I would think that since with us our initial backround is working the ambulance we wouldn't be suseptable to that disadvantage.

Stevo, you look sexy in that outfit! ;)
