Thankfully my wife works outside of Public Safety as a Escrow Officer. Otherwise she would know how full of s**t I am when I talk about calls.

i really don't think it matters what profession they are in.

My girlfriend isn't in medicine at all but I'm not opposed to it. In EMS we tend to have odd personalities that most people don't understand but when I'm not at work I don't want to do EMS, I don't want to talk EMS and I don't want to think EMS. There are some that are consumed by the job that probably can't come up with anything else interesting to talk about or do so they would be best with someone that understands them (another medical professional) but if you have interests outside of the job you will be fine. When I date someone, it's for the person not the job their in (unless they're rich and really old).

it really doesn't matter to me if she is in the Health care or not, but my ex who was a Nursing student was probably the only one that truly understood what we do and was actually interested about what I did at work that day, plus it seems like we always talked about work over dinner.

Hmmm.... sounds like R/r911 has an opening for #4. So, Sasha, if it doesn;t work out tomarrow, give rid a call.... ^_^

Aside from the fact he is old enough to be my father, I could never date a man with facial hair :P

I personally think it's healthy to have an SO that does not function within the health care profession, as long as they are understanding of the demands of it. If not you could never get away from EMS. Go to work, EMS, come home, EMS. EMS shouldn't be all someone's life is about.

So? How'd the date go? Find stuff to talk about outside of your jobs?

Right, that is the problem to many in EMS are consumed by it, defined by it. Its a job, just like any other. When I punch out Im done, till the next tour.

I am simply a person who works in EMS. It will never consume or define me.

My wife is in the medical field but not in EMS.

What the hell is wrong with you?!

I don't like the sand paper feel of stubble or the tickle of someone with a ferret on their face. I like them to be smooth and shaven on their face, arms, pits, chest, legs, and back.

So before we run off to Argentina you're going to have to shave your beard.

You just described the (average) female. Shasha... Is there something you want to tell us???

God you'd hate me. I have hair galore. I'm part Norwegian.

I have witnessed a lot of bad breakups with people who date within their chosen profession. I think it is okay to have similar interests ie: EMS with Dispatch, EMS with Fire, Fire with Dispatch etc... But I live by the rule of:

Dont meet your honey where you make your money!!

With that being said, I also know of a couple of relationships that work well together within the same profession, I believe alot of it has to do with the people involved and their level of respect for their significant other and their maturity. I call 50/50...
