Hyperbaric Chamber explosion kills boy, injures mother

That's terrifying.

I can't imagine being a parent watching my child die in such a horrific way nearby.

I've never heard of many of the treatments they offer, nor do they seem to be backed in any science I can find.

From the article:

The Oxford Center is among the alternative medical centers or medical spas that, in recent years, have offered hyperbaric oxygen therapy for conditions that are not approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, such as autism spectrum disorder, cerebral palsy, sports injuries, COVID-19, depression, alopecia, HIV/AIDS, strokes, migraine headaches, and as an anti-aging treatment.

Remember when Oxygen Bars started poping up as the cure for everything? this seems to be the latest iteration...

Very tragic situation

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy does work for some conditions, and may work for some others, but for a lot of the stuff listed above, it’s just not going to be effective at all. In any event, once you go beyond about an oxygen partial pressure of about 1.3. ATM, oxygen can become toxic.
