So I was watching a movie today and jason statham stole an amulance and opened up the narcotics bag to get some morphine and there was a gun inside. I assume to prevent a theft or ward off an attacker. Has anyone ever seen something like this or is it purely movie fiction? I know I sure have not.

Movie fiction.

I carry an at-4 in the oxygen compartment.

we carry a bazooka in our ambulance (between the two front seats) to ward off carjackers

If you combine a capruject and a 14ga cath you have a far more fearsome weapon than a! At4. So no, not just fiction.

Was this ambulance in Presidio TX by any chance? :p

Wow, you guys must work at some shady companies if they make you defend your rigs with such puny weaponry. We call in the US Air Force when we're in a tight spot. They can scramble their fighter jets amazingly fast. :usa:

I can't imagine a service that would have a policy other than "Hand them the damn narc box." for a couple of reasons:

1) by and large, narcs are cheap. Even buying in low volume, the typical narc box has well under 50 dollars worth of meds in it. (Side note, I could see having a hand gun strapped to the back of the lifepak.)

2) Losing narcs isn't as big a deal as people think it is. If you have a legitimate reason for losing them like, say, "A guy pulled a gun/knife on me.". The process boils down to conducting an internal investigation ("So, a guy pulled a gun on you guys, huh? That sucks."), filing a report with the local LEOs (Which you'd probably be doing anyhow.), and doing some paperwork to notify the DEA.

Actually when Ohio first got concealed and carry, it was the recommended practice to store a firearm taken off patient there when police were not there to secure it.
