Hi guys,
Hopefully I'm posting in an okay location. I haven't posted in a while.
But, I recently became EMS "President" (Captain equivalent) in my department. We're a combination EMS/Fire Department and I was looking for places to find/apply for grants for things like Simman or a power-lift stryker stretcher system. I am honestly so new with looking into this I have no idea where to even start. I did a few Google searches but everything I've come up with requires some sort of subscription for more information?
I live in NY, and any help for who to contact, or websites to use would be helpful.
thank you in advance!
Hope everyone had a great New Year.
Stay safe!

AFG grants are your best bet for big things. I’ve had good luck with smaller grants from local foundations.

Your state EMS office may also have a funding assistance program as well, or be able to point you in the right direction. Depending on what sort of area you serve there might be other state options (for instance we service a casino area so are eligible for impact grants). If you have large factories/plants in your area they might be interested in helping as well for PR activities, many large companies operate their own foundations to dispense such "gifts."

Typically the president is in charge of the corporation, as an administrative leader; the EMS captain is an operational role, which is different from president. That being said..... What did you learn as VP, before you became president? Has no one looked previously into getting grants?

If you are looking at stretchers, why not go ask the companies if people have ever purchased them through grants? that would be my first contact. There are EMS grants out there, but it's more common to find companies in your area that would provide grants to local non-profit entities. If your FD is tax based, than that might make you ineligible, as you are tax payer funded, and upgrading of operational equipment should come from the tax payers, since they are the ones who receive the service.

We don't have a Captain due to how our department is set up. If we were EMS only, or if we weren't set up the way we were, then I'd be Captain. I was just trying to explain my role a little better. I was not VP prior to becoming President because our prior VP dropped out, and our President before me didn't want to stay in office to help... so I'm really completely on my own, here. As far as I am aware, no one has looked into them because no one really cared enough to try.
I need to look into all of our tax things, I just am completely clueless in any of this. My plan was just to try and find out if we could possibly qualify for anything, though, I'm not sure what would even disqualify us.
thank you for your suggestions! I'll look into everything. :)

Good Idea. I'll check in with a few places around here to see if they'd be willing to "gift" us.
