I'm wondering what a friend request is.

I've jut gotten one and I think i had one a while back, but is it kinda like facebook? I guess i'm just not sure what happens when i accept. Aren't we all friends here anyway?

It's pretty much the same as facebook and yes we are all friends here....

Some of the one's that I requested a friendship to was because I like the way they think and therefore wanted to show that I respect there opinions
(some I do not really know I requested simply out of respect for what they do for us I.E Military.)
