EMT-B, but not on an ambulance?

Just curious if any of you who are EMT-Bs work anywhere other than on an ambulance. Basically, I'm trying to get an idea if there are other opportunities for EMT-Bs that don't involve ambulance care.

That's interesting. Did you need prior experience before you got that job?

They did occasionally hire new EMTs, but most had at least 6 months experience on an bus first

Yes. I work on a college campus. Right now it's volunteer, but that could be changing soon.

In addition to working Ambulance, I have used my EMT in SAR, at a Snow Park (Amusement Park), Correctional Facility, and at First Aid Stations at Public Events.

Personally, I know EMTs who work/have worked at Casinos, Ski Patrol, Boat Patrol, Security, Hospitals (not just the ER), Wilderness/Adventure Guiding, Industrial Settings, and (if you are so inclined) Fire/First Response.

I work for a security agency as an EMT-B which is contracted by International Paper. Check out your local Industrial complex and see if they hire EMT's

I also know of a friend (in Canada though) who is a security guard/EMT for a large office/corporate facility.

Sports Medicine

I currently work for my college's Sports Medicine department. Though I don't spend a whole lot of time dealing with acute emergencies, being a basic is job requirement and we take these obligations seriously. I have also learned quite a bit more about patient assessment than I did in my basic class and have the opportunity to learn and assist with some pretty unique skills and procedures. The emphasis on education is also refreshing, to say the least.

At my old hospital PACU was post-anesthesia care unit.

For me, I'll go with security at a local senior citizen apartment complex and some stand by events here and there
