I have a question, as part of my Psych tech job, I have to do RQI every 3 months and I wonder, dose RQI take the place of your Standard BLS CPR card for your EMT card. Also What's the difference between RQI and CPR.

Yes you will get an AHA BLS CPR card doing RQI. The idea is that frequent training and refreshers improves CPR performance than one big training ever two years.

Do you think RQI improves CPR over doing the standard every two years training. How would RQI work in EMS

There is a ton of research that shows the RQI continued competency assessments improve CPR quality. It should become the standard for EMS.

I’m not going to post the links, but almost every journal has published studies showing that it works.

I was skeptical until the first time I did it, now I think it’s better than regular cpr training. You better get 2 mins of quality compressions out or you’re done. Better be efficient with your bvm to compression swap or you fail. No more of this “eh it’s fine you’re good”.

RQI is fine for BLS, but it sucks vs a good ACLS/PALS class

Should RQI be mandatory for EMT's & EMR's at the BLS level

I can see RQI being implemented at the BLS level and I wonder how they would work that into Fire and EMS departments

It’s happened all over the country, mostly larger departments. The downside is that it’s fairly expensive, at least last time I checked..

I went on too far off a deep dive into RQI and it looks amazing, though expensive.

You can also do it yourself with an instrumented manikin and some tracking software. You don’t need to get an RQI card to mandate continued competencies.
