Well, the boss, my girl friend's dad, dropped a bomb shell on us this morning. He has decided to close the Santa Cruz office just two months after opening it. This comes as a HUGE suprise to my girl and I and were left with our mouths wide open. And yet another suprise, he's packing up and moving back to Florida on Thursday, less than 48 hours later. He invited us to come back to Florida, but with the business on shakey ground we decided that it was time to jump ship before it sinks.

So before we leave California we are going to stay in the Santa Ana area and check out the job market there. If we don't find anything worth while in a week or so we're gonna head...... ???? Well, we don't really know actually.

More later... time to help pack their uhaul truck.

Signed,

A Sad Chimpie

Wow...I don't know what to say, Chimpie. :o

I hope that the two of you are able to find something suitable for work and that everything works out for you.

Keep us posted on the job search and moving.

Not really sure what your skill sets are, but North Carolina is growing, especially around the Charlotte & Raliegh areas.

I'm sorry to hear that Chimpie :(

On a lighter note, Florida isn't all that bad, especially Collier County "wink wink, nudge nudge"

I wish you both the best in your decisions...Good Luck!

Sorry to hear that, Chimp. If there's anything I can do to help out, just let me know.

Naaah Wingnut, Collier County is a little too far South. Now Santa Rosa and Okaloosa coutnies, THEY are gorgeous. Wink, Wink, Nudge, Push :P :P

Really, Chimpie thats sucks. Hope it all works out well for you two.

Well, because my girl wants to go to college in Santa Ana (actually Orange, CA) we'll be visiting there first. We both really hope we can find employment and a decent place to live there. Neither of us want to hike back across the country since we just made the long arse trip just two months ago.

If things don't work out there, our first stop will be San Antonio, Texas. Toyota is building a new plant there, a near mirror image to the Indiana plant where I spent three years service there (dispatch, emergency response team). With my experience I'm sure I can get hired there again.

If SA doesn't work out we are either going to Orlando, FL or Evansville, IN. Jobs are good in both areas, Evansville has good, cheap housing. I grew up in Evansville and had decided a few years ago that if anything ever happens and I'm near broke that that's where I would go. Back home. I hate the cold there but sometimes you 'gotta do what ya gotta do'.

As for what I'm good at doing... well, I have a passion for the security industry, and not just a one man post where you sit at a desk all day/night long. I'm talking about departments like Toyota where you combine security, fire protection and EMS. And Toyota basically has a blank check book so we got all new, state of the art equipment.

And I have learned over the past two months that I'm really good in sales. Me selling is the only thing that has really kept this boat afloat. I have decided to continue doing this part time, hoping to help make ends meet. We'll see what happens.

Thanks for all the well wishes and Chris, I may see you very soon. HAHA

Well Chimp, sounds like you got a decent plan and a good head on your shoulders. We were in a somewhat similar situation and looking back it was the best thing that could have happened to us (well winning lotto would beat it) even though it devastated us at the time.

Again good luck, and keep in touch, we'd miss ya around here.

did someone say ORLANDO???? I wouldn't suggest it.....

Sorry :(

Sorry to hear that Chimpie.

Since everyone is giving you places to move you can come to rural Northwest Iowa and become an EMS director. As we are currently searching or so I have been told.

Chimp,

Sorry to hear that, that's gotta be rough.

Good luck with everything, and as always, keep us updated!

I think you could get a job with a private in philly and make a whopping 10 or 11 an hour!

Pay ain't hot, but it is a steady check!

Well, today is the final day in Santa Cruz. The cars are almost all packed and we'll soon be heading to the Orange County area. We'll be staying in Anaheim for a couple of days till we find a nice apartment. I'll be on here on and off so I won't be able to post much. I'm sure someone will have post 7000 by the time I'm back full time.

Best of luck to you. Moving and switching jobs is never easy.
