California Board of Pharmacy and fire fighters

Is this a new thing? I'll be honest, I don't think I ever received B-12 as a routine action following firefighting activities, but maybe it's common in California? Has anyone received it?

Based on the YouTube video, it looks like it's more about the state going after compounding pharmacies, and Ms. Frost using the firefighters' usage to help spread the word and get more eyes on it,

Here are some additional resources about this topic, many of which are from Ms. Frost:

Thank you! I am a pharmacist, and this was interesting.

Huh. Never even heard of taking these. Not even so much as a whisper (at least that I've heard) within my Dept of guys trying/wanting to take B12 as part of wildfire responses (or any other reason).

I would imagine if it were a thing out here, we'd have to get it approved and Prescribed by our Department's Medical Director, and then probably picked up from the City/County health services center pharmacy, almost certainly our Union would demand it be covered/paid for by the City (though I could see an argument that if it was voluntary, you'd have to pay out of pocket or through whichever health insurance plan you have)

Of course most of our wildland brush fires are pretty small fries compared to California's, we don't have those massive multi week campaign fires (which CA has like half a dozen going on at once right now?). We do pay plenty of attention towards Cancer on the structural side of things, strong emphasis on wearing SCBA anywhere around smoke, much less inside a working fire, and on overhaul. And they even just did Cancer screening blood tests for us, but still haven't heard anything about taking any of these meds for cancer prevention due to particular incident responses...

I am not a firefighter but have been in CA and working EMS for the past 13 years and I have never seen any departments let alone heard about any using these. Must be some high class fire departments
